    Default Few questions

My daughter is 11 days old. She latches on well and sucks well initially but then after a couple of minutes she just stops and stares at me or looks around for ages. She'll then suck intermittently. I take her off and burp her and she rematches fine so I figure she must still be hungry but just faffing. How can I encourage her to suck more consistently?

Also, my milk came in on day 5 and m boobs were rock solid, leaking and painful. They now feel soft and floppyish... I'm worried I'm losing my supply already! She has yellow runny poos and has wet nappies still. She seems to be waking more regularly for feeds (although she sleeps and settles fine in between) now though so does this mean I don't have enough?

Mine used to do this and i used to lightly tickle their hair or squeeze their feet. It's like they forget there is a nipple in their mouths or something.

Hey if bub is weeing and pooing try not to worry. Bub could be going through a growth spurt: one generally happens around the 2 week mark. During a growth spurt bub will feed more often in order to temporarily increase your milk supply. This is normal.

Don't worry if your boobs don't feel as heavy and/or leaking like they did when your milk first came in - it just means your hormones have adjusted and your supply is adjusting to meet your daughter's needs.

    Yep this

Re the fluffing around, I think about it this way..I don't sit and scoff my whole meal all at once, I like to chill out enjoy the scenery..sometimes I like to have a second helping

Both my boys did this (well, DS2 is a newbie and doing this!). As long as your DD seems happy, plenty of wet and dirty nappies, I'm sure that she's getting enough.
