Default Does this just allow people to judge me based on looks alone?

So my boss wanted to take a photo of me this morning and obviously I wanted to know what for.

Apparently she wants to do it of all the girls working in the salon, each with our own little bio to go beside it, and put it on FB so people can look and choose which one they want to be their beauty therapist.

TBH it makes me feel weird. I mean, no doubt people are judging me anyway based on how I look when they see that I'm taking care of them but then they have to spend time with me and see my skills immediately after that first meeting anyway so they can have their judgements confirmed or denied.

But this gives us no opportunity for that... Instead people will look and choose based on little more than how we look in these pics.

I turned her down today saying she has to at least let me make sure I have time to prepare (just spending extra time on hair and makeup really lol).

But it still feels wrong. Like being put in a line up of girls and having people choose which they like the look of best.

    Thoughts?

I had my pic taken for work dozens of times (much to my dismay) but it was more to put a face to the name. Believe me there was no judgement because most of the people I worked with were far from oil paintings, myself included.

But to be chosen for a service I don't think I'd feel comfortable. As an introduction I'm fine, but that scenario would make me feel weird.

I would feel the same as you I suppose.

I just started at a new gym and they have the same thing as what your boss is trying to do but with all the PT's that work there.

Hmm I'd say its common these days, my doctors website has photos and bios of all the doctors with what they specialise in etc, I've also seen it on physio's watch websites.

I think it's more that each person usually has their one speciality and a little bio explaining this with a photo of the individual could be easier for some to remember the face, not the name, of who they want.

Ive seen this done for many diff things. They do it in real estate heaps, gyms, my occupational therapists company.

It's normal to me. For what its worth i base my opinion and choice on the bio.

It's a fairly common thing with many work places, I've had my pic taken for it a few times. I wasn't given time to do hair and makeup!!

Sign of the times I guess. I wouldn't over react.
