We actually flew in and out of Paris and rented a car. We did about 6000 km in our 17 days there! I loved having a car as we saw so much more. You could easily rent a car in CZECH. There's so many castles just outside Zlin. An hour or even two and it's amazing!

Thank you for the congrats. I don't feel settled in this pregnancy yet. It's still scary every single day and I'm always worried something will go wrong. We have not shared with family or friends yet. I do a lot of active avoidance now that I'm showing. It's hard after so many losses (5, with most early but the last at 12.5 weeks). I am not sure I will ever feel comfortable in this pregnancy. Infertility really does change you.

Oh. And clinic to hotel is not far, maybe a few km. You could easily walk, except after transfer!

We finish at beautiful Vienna today and head to Budapest tomorrow. Been looking for a pregnancy test kit all day and could not find them. Looked in supermarkets. Could not find a pharmacy. So will look tomorrow in Budapest.

Amfm I was expecting it to be really bad but having twins hasn't been nearly as hard to cope with as what I thought!! I have had moments but on the whole it's been really good, you will need a hand to start with, especially if you breastfeed, I spent the first 3 months on my bed feeding and eating, I'm still doing that but we are getting out as well, I do 3 things around the house per day and that's it as my main focus is the babies The one thing I have had to get used to is that sometimes while your attending to one baby the other baby has to cry, I felt a bit guilty over this for a while, but kept on reminding myself that this is normal for them and they won't know any difference, so if your d/h is keen for them, make sure you tell him that there will be no housework done for the first 3 months and minimal housework done for the next 6 months xx

Hello everyone, I hope you don't mind me joining this thread but I'm trying to research donor egg options after 4 unsuccessful ivf attempts. We are just still processing that but being female I like to get all the info for if/when we decide to go down that path!

I was wondering if someone could tell me rough cost in aud (split between the process/egg cost and other associated costs including travel etc), whether donors are anonymous or can be traced after child is 18, and also how you managed it from oz, ie did you deal with a clinic in Sydney that referred you there and helped with prescriptions etc? Finally, what made you choose donor from Czech Republic rather than the other options out there?

    Grateful for any insights!

    Hi chillout71 and welcome
firstly I chose zlin as my clinic because I am on another site and everyone was going there and getting pregnant! Unfortunately I only found out about zlin after I had paid my money for a clinic in Greece, that clinic ended up by being slightly shonky and we got a bfn. Also the cost of d/e was a huge factor for me €4500 for the donor egg cycle. The meds I got on prescription from my go, apart from the progesterone as I had enough left over from my other cycle, enough to get me to zlin where I purchased more at about 1/4 of the cost you can buy it here from. I got my prostap( down regulation injection) from fertility2u, £95 when I bought it, my chemist quoted me $700. All scans were paid by Medicare as were the blood tests. So for me it wasn't an expensive option compared to other clinics. Donor are anonymous.
    approximate cost for me:
d/e cost €4500, embryoscope app $150, accomodation 3 nights €210(I stayed at hotel clinic) roughly $500 elsewhere as I had a holiday as well, train tickets app €40, flights for me $1800, meds bought from clinic pharmacy as way cheaper than here to last until 12 wks app $130, prostap £95, I never had a fertility specialist or clinic my go was happy to help

Thanks Stacey! That's really helpful. How many eggs did you get collected / fertilised and did you have success? With the donors being anonymous, are you able to choose or does the clinic choose for you? I'm struggling with the anonymity thing - not sure whether I prefer it or not, which makes it very confusing!!!
