Transferring money tomorrow to pay for the travel tomorrow. No turning back now. I still can't believe it is happening.

Also, buy a little more medication as you will taper off the meds at about 12 weeks into a pregnancy. The clinic can advise you on this.

I felt the same way, like it was all some dream happening to someone else. I still pinch myself everyday to make sure everything is still real!
    You'll have a great time!

Based on current conversion just over $12000. I have put another 500 euro aside for possible extras for treatment, eg the medication I referred to in my prev post to buy online will be around $400. Also need to add train fares and transfers. We budgeted $15000 for the trip and going to come in under that which is good.
We ended up going through a travel agent but it helps that DH has a friend he grew up with and is still close to who is a travel agent. We decided it was better to go that way when we started adding all the extra travel in.
    Good luck with your planning.

THanks AMFM and yes I live in AUs. The time of year we are going helps keep the prices down.

We've flown Finnair before and they were fantastic!!! It was an odd feeling to be surrounded by people who look like you but you have no idea what they're saying. I'm used to being the English speaking majority! The food (stocked on the plane in Helsinki) was great!
We booked our flights with a 12 hour delay in Helsinki and booked a tour guide who picked us up at the airport and took us out around Finland for the day then dropped us back at the airport. It was great and I can highly recommend it, it was unlike anywhere I had ever seen before, frozen snow covered beaches and frozen harbours!

ETA: As the plane was coming in to land in Helsinki people were unloaded their overhead lockers with big boots and huge coats and we just looked at each other and though 'holy carp! what have we gotten ourselves into! We're going to freeze' but we didn't, we were fine!

First I want to say thank you for this forum and all the advice.

My GP today has told me he will not give us the prescriptions, expected that and will order them online. But he also wants me to go back to the IVF Dr I origanilly saw here for their opinion. I was not a big fan of the IVF specialist I saw and when I spoke to the clinic this specialist was linked to when we first started looking at overseas I was told that we would not be a patient of theirs if we decided on overseas, which I understand as they are not providing the treatment.

People who have been. Did you have an OB prior to going so when you got back you had the care immediately? I saw an OB last year to discuss the medications I was on and what needed to be removed and he was really really nice, but not an infertility specialist. I was going to go back to him but now I am thinking should I find another infertility specialist to work with before and after we go?

    Advice please?

Debant the lack of help doesn't surprise me, I had that same reaction from a fertility clinic up here in cairns, I never had an OB just a helpful gp, he did my blood tests and us forms, if your really stuck, the clinic will send you the meds, when I went last year it was €350 for them yo send them to you, my gp prescribed me the prednisone and the estrogen so I only needed the depot injection which I got from fertility2u, I got the clinic to send them the script then you just order and pay online, easy peasy If you don't think your ph will help, try the walk in centers dome ladies seem to find doctors there that will help, also your gp my just like an email from your coordinator explaining why your going and what meds you need and why, they are pretty clueless when it comes to ivf, in any case I would buy the depot shot either from the clini or fertility2u as it's a quarter of the cost, the same as the progesterone you deigns tell don't need an infertility specialist, they will charge you a huge fee and do nothing !!

    Thanks Stacey
I have orderd what I need online and the rest i will get there. My GP was even concerned with giving me prednisilone. Meds are all sorted and after reading your response I will stick with my original plan of gp for tests needed and if pregnant go to the OB I saw last year not a fertilit specialist. THanks

Debant, I'm so sorry to hear this.
We started our journey with an Ob who also happened to consult at an IVF clinic, although we didn't see him there, we saw him at his private practice. Eventually we moved into the IVF clinic where the director, who we also became patients of, suggested we go overseas. Both of our doctors were super super supportive and helpful.
Where are you located (you can pm me if you like). I'd have a look at some IVF clinics and read the doctor profiles. See if anyone has an interest in egg/sperm donation as this might mean they are a bit more helpful and accepting.

It's super easy getting the prescriptions from the clinic and the online pharmacy.
