    Default Thinking or Prague

    Hi

Been reading through this thread as we are currently thinking of going to Prague for egg donor. I have been in touch with GYNEM a clinic in Prague and wondering if anyone has had any dealings with them. Cost is good, 4500 euro. I've always wanted to go to Prague so will make a holiday of it.

I have contacted the clinic and they have sent a lot of info. From my research so far they appear to be good.

Any advice from people who have been to Czech Republic?

    Thanks
    Deb

    Hi Everyone!

Eva let me know last friday that they had found our donor, and were just waiting on her to confirm... And we got that yesterday! She is 27, a proven donor, 5'7", 130 lbs, a university graduate, o+ blood, dark hair, nice blue eyes, and quite pretty according to Eva. I am thrilled to know they found someone who fits all our criteria, and am getting very excited... It's only 8 weeks today till our ER on August 7th! YIKES! So hard to believe! I started our inquiry on April 23, and now it's all booked and ready to go, and counting down the days...

With our last loss fresh in our minds (end of march at almost 13 weeks), I think Fathers day will be very hard for DH... but knowing that we have a confirmed donor, helps make this time a bit easier.

Congratulations not long now! Such great news. They do such a great job of choosing donors over there. Every Zlin DE baby I have seen is just gorgeous!
I think having something to look forward to might make the day easier as well.
Both DH and I have felt recently like we should be going to Zlin soon for a trip as we had been there twice in a year. We also hold such a great affection for the place. The people were so lovely and of course we now have a lifelong connection to the lovely place.

In regards to twin pregnancies, multiple pregnancies are high risk, even if you are healthy. DE pregnancies can come with the possibility of some more risk as what is growing inside you is 100% completely foreign to your body. The fact that many of us by this stage have sadly experienced multiple pregnancy loss makes any pregnancy high risk by nature.

Our Ob understood why we were keen to transfer two embryos (its a long way to go!) however made sure we knew the risks. If something happens and you lose one embryo it can 'knock the other off its perch' as my Ob would say.

I won't go into lots of detail as there are pregnant women reading this and I don't want to worry them, however the important thing to note is that everyones body is different and reacts differently. Just because I had a difficult pregnancy (right at the very end) it doesn't mean that others will but people should be aware of the risk of multiple embryo transfer before doing it (that and I've hardly slept all week as my teething twins keep tag team sleeping/screaming!! but I wouldn't change it for the world!)

    Hi Debant, welcome!
I've not known anyone who has gone to GYNEM however I really believe that most of the clinics are much of a muchness. Most of the people here have been to CRM Zlin and one is/has been to Reprofit Brno.

During our 12 day stay in the Czech Republic in Zlin we were able to go to Prague for two days for some shopping and a wander. We had already been to Prague a few years earlier as part of a tour of Europe so had done the touristy thing. There are some really interesting things to see and do.

Often people will go to clinics outside of Prague as they can be cheaper, so is the accommodation and then they will travel to Prague for sightseeing etc. Brno is the second largest city in the Czech Republic and there are good transport connections to Prague.
When we have gone over we have always come through Vienna, partly because I like it there and also because it means we are also going somewhere else and having a bit of a holiday. I'm a big believer in having a bit of a holiday so if the cycle is unsuccessful you don't feel like you've 'wasted' a trip to Europe.

Best of luck with your decision!

Been quiet for a while... How's everyone doing?

i did my lupron shot on July first. I'm so thankful I don't have to remember bcp anymore! Only a month till we leave. Strangely I'm not very excited... I'm already prepping myself for a failed cycle as I'm just not sure i can handle another heart breaking loss...

Hi ladies, hope all is going well I'm going through some tests at the moment which Lin asked me to do before going there for our DE next February. They asked me to do " thrombophilic mutations: factor v Leiden , factor II prothrombin" however, the ivf specialist ( dr. Anthony Wilkinson in Melbourne ) told me that this test is not done here in Australia . Is that right ? Has anyone done this test ? Also for my husband, zlin asked for "karyotype man 46xy" , has any hubby done this test ?
Have a great weekend every one

How exciting!!! Not long to go!
Don't worry, it's normal to prep for failure. It's kind of like an emotional safety net. People who haven't been through this don't understand how we can be so indifferent about it but it's how we emotionally protect ourselves.
I hope you have a great time away and if it's a positive that's great but if not at least you've had a great holiday!

Hmm, I've had a whole bunch of irregular tests done but can't for the life of me remember what any of them are called. I know I had one done that was like a scraping of the uterus and the tissue had to be sent to a research professor in Sydney as it was a trial kind of thing. It was the absolute last test I had. I was lucky because from that they figured out that I required lipiodol, which isn't really commonly used here. If your specialist says they don't do it here then I think he'd know. Have you told Zlin?

As for the man test, I'm fairly certain this is a very common test that most men undertake when doing IVF, kind of like a screening thing for potential problems that could be causing other problems. I know my DH did. From memory the results took a while to come back, but that could just have been our lab.

    All the best!

Feeling very disheartened at the moment. Just received news from the clinic in Prague, they will not treat us because I have bi-polar. There was no consultation about it so I understand the decision, but if there had been consultation they would find out I am probably more stable than some of the "sane" people I know. Don't know where to from here.
