Tiggy – your day tomorrow !!! Yay, yippity doo…. Gosh you poor thing though, I can’t believe what you have been through this week with the fires. Do you have animals that you have to get taken care of and looked out for if something happens whilst you are away?

Crystal – thanks for that. You’ll be there now – whoo hoo. Keep us posted J

Stories, Stories, Stories – I had the same dilmena… work is a major issue. As I didn’t want them to say no to leave, I told them a wedding for our first trip. Lucky not too many quesitons were asked.
Friends, only 1 knew the truth.
Family, they all knew, and I kind of regretted telling some, as they bleated to others and I’m really upset about it. Just because it’s a “good juicy gossipy” story.. don’t go telling everyone and anyone about our sensitive business right now, thank you very much!!

This trip coming up… Family will know again... (feel that I can’t really go all the way over there and not say anyting, what if something happened!) but have not been telling them all the ins and outs like I did last time.

1 friend will know again and work, this time I’m having “surgery”, gosh knows what type yet, but I’ll do some Google research and make sure it lines up with my recent CA125 scare etc. I loathe all the stories and lies, I really do. I’ll be so glad when it is all over.

THEN it will be the story for work on how we
“just managed to fall pregnant at 43…oh what a miracle, we are sooooooooooo happy, as we’d given up thinking it would ever happen!” (they don’t know we are doing IVF)....

But wait there's more, as then it will be making sure that whatever “surgery” I had… lines up with been able to get pregnant within that time frame, when they sit there and start thinking and work the dates back t"o when I was "away.
Baby’s due date might have to be 1 month later. Ha ha The stories just go on and on, and on............

    Hi girls

Sooty I giggled at the surgeries as you know only one auntie of mine knows and she had similar issues so she understands the whole donor side of things. They needed a sperm donor though not egg. We always say we'e on holiday!! Luckily DH's coworkers also travel overseas on holidays so no one really asks questions.

Family probably think we're a bit crazy spending on holidays a few times a year but no one has mentioned it

Tiggy, wow I have to let you know that if you are flying into ABU DHABI be very careful with gates we were waiting at ours and then we were told there is no gate for the flight so we had to go upstairs only to be told it was the right gate and got back to the gate just in time. It's not the most organized system on earth so just be mindful and double check about gates Hope your worries are easing about fires . So scary, safe travels Tiggy !!!!!

Kheeki, hope you are well, I think you mentioned my swollen cheeks and ankles a few days ago I had cankles last night right up to my knees and my jeans were right from the belly bloat and my face is puffy It's steroid and blood pressure related with the fluid retention so once we get to Zlin I'm going to take things much slower so my body can recover!! I do feel like Alvin though Aee you getting excited???? It's a lot of travelling and long flights but you literally forget in a day or two.

Alice, we got here in London late however it's so nice to be back!!! The buildings are amazing and I can't wait to get going today today our time will fly here. Are you coming back next Christmas?

We took Czech Airlines from Abu Dhabi to Prague and they were lovely!! We did get told of by two seperate cleaning ladies that were asked to show us where the showers were. Oh they were not happy with us but it made us giggle afterward so it's was fine.. What can you do?

I'm excited to be here but I'm also looking forward to my cycle getting going. Will pop in later today

Crystal!!! You are so close now, just the shortest of flights. Glad you made the trip ok, and that you are loving London. Don't worry, your cycle IS going, right now, your wee angel donor is on the program and everything is getting ready for you. My fingers are crossed for you, cos I know how much you want to those broken sleeps and extra house work and sore bb's and pushing out a kid hardly hurts right!!!???? Me too. I am right behind you. xxx

Alice, I sent you a PM on FB and was told it would arrive in your 'Other Folder'. Sooty and Alice, I am loving all the stories we are telling. Brilliant. What stories we will have to laugh about, hey? I feel a bit safer now that I have burdened poor Alice twin mum with my travel details. (sorry Alice, I will also do what Em said).

I am pretty much packed and now getting the house tidy. My biggest issue is really my poor eyes, which haven't recovered from the dehydration that Prostap caused. I am on every eye drop known to mankind. I just wish I could successfully say to myself, 'Ok Tiggy, it's uncomfortable, but your eyes won't fall out, they will recover, you can see the specialist when you return, and if worst comes to worst you can see someone in Zlin, heartland of medical success stories.' Instead I fret. They are just wildly itchy like OMG did a mozzy just bite my eyeball itchy. And the heat wave was hellish for them, plus aircon in all those play centres I escaped too. I have some really good steroid drops but am too paranoid to use them because of the impending transfer. On google it said it caused cleft palate in rats. My god. It said no evidence of danger in humans BUT tell your doctor is planning to become pg. There is no time to tell a doctor! Which is worse, the anxiety of itchy dry eyes from hell, or the anxiety of cleft palate? Eeeek. Must I be such a worry wart?

Ladies, if you have reached the end of this rave you have indulged me.

Crystal, we are flying via Dubai, that Abu Dabhi experience sounded hairy. The joys of travel. Glad you made it xxx

So good to hear you're travels Crystal - I know the feeling, I don't think you really relax until you get to the clinic and get all that out of the way, that first time walking in, really is quite something after such a long lead up and planning of it all and how far you have travelled to get there.

Tiggy, is Prostap the injection that stops ovulation? One more sleep for you.

Default Wildly confusing myself now :)

You gals are making me smile and I don't even know you. Fantastic!

To those travelling: safe journeys and wishing you all the best. Can't wait to learn from your adventures and experiences in the Czech Republic.

To those near the bushfires: wishing you safe sleeps, end of fires and cooler temps soon. So scary.

To those who are not telling friends and family about their egg donor trips/experiences: I am right there with you! I hear ya. Too much gossip fodder and I can't be bothered with that. Don't need that additional stress. Instead, we're going to say we're attending a conference for my better half's work - which will be true, as we'll synch our visit to that.

    So....

I have to say, I'm at a point of great confusion. After doing my aforementioned spreadsheet of potential clinics, I was left with these final choices: Gennet, Zlin, Reprofit, Praga Medica/GEST, Cube and PFC. [Have I left out any that you feel are terrific? Please do tell me, thanks!]

So then my better half and I decided to set Skype dates, and interview a representative at each.

But - each time we had a call, we were left even more confused. We'd learn something new, or get a response we hadn't even considered before, and then doubt the others we'd interviewed previously for not mentioning it...but all ultimately sounded great...so, long and short -- we are more confused than ever.

All of the clinics sound terrific in their own ways and we don't know how to differentiate.

So - for those who conducted similar research - how did you land with the clinic you chose? And did you eliminate any of the above for solid, concerning reasons?

i remain grateful for your input.

Now, back to the tennis... THANK YOU!

Apple - I felt the same when I started. I had no idea what factors I should focus on but was helped by Alice and her experience. In fact, it was predominantly her positive experience with Zlin that made the decision for me easier, given I was already sure I wanted to try in CZ. A couple of other factors that were important to me were:
Financial - Zlin is approx €1000 less than Prague just in clinic cost not to mention the savings in accom, food etc. being outside of Prague. Money is a factor for us.
Communication - prompt, relevant to our needs and questions and just felt right.

Can I ask what some of the clinics have said which has made you question others you've already spoken to?

    Hi Apple

We were deciding between Reprofit and Zlin and Reprofit basically decided for us. We wanted to travel in April, they were booked up for then so we went to Zlin. We're glad we did!
Also the places we wanted to stay in Brno were booked out, obviously with the people cycling at the clinic!
I also think if we'd gone to Brno, we'd already been there a few years earlier on a big Euro trip, we wouldn't have seen as much of the beautiful countryside or found a second home in Zlin!

Apple, at the risk of sounding blunt, maybe it's time to stop torturing yourself. You have come to a Zlin forum - a place where many have stepped before us - who have used Zlin successfully. We can't control all outcomes by choosing this clinic or that - clearly we are all advocates of Zlin, and are happy with what we have learned. But there are no guarantees. It will be up to so many variables coming together - maybe save yourself some stress and come with us. I don't want to cause offence, just giving you a friendly nudge. Then you can start making some concrete plans. Probably all the clinics you have researched are of a high standard, and are competitive, but you have landed here, with us. So...

    I hope I don't make you cross!

    Tiggy xx

Ladies I am having a tough day. I have sorted my eyes out with some medication, but seem to be lurching from one panic to another. It's awful. I am getting on the plane at 10.25pm. I am thinking ever panicked thought under the sun including 'what if I don't love the baby?' or 'what will I do if there's a fire threat and I have a baby to look after?' I feel really jittery. Does it mean I should pull out?

Is it because I am getting on the plane? Did any of you panic like this? It's not fun. Lucky I packed yesterday because I am not too good today.

    xxx Tig

Thank you all - blunt is always great! No offense here at all.

Kheeki, the piece that really threw us off was the variation in necessary length of stay - ranging from 5 to 12 days. And also one clinic gave us an exact date to be there and another shot that down, saying the whole process is full of so many variables you can never peg it on one day and need to leave a few on either side. Also - one clinic really touted its PICSI and embryo monitoring, and said they can do third day transfers because of the embryo monitoring technology. But we have always been told to go to day 5 by two excellent docs here. Thoughts welcomed!

Alice, all respect to you because you have twins and clearly are speaking from experience = so glad you've had success.

Tiggy, I appreciate your honesty but my partner is quite interested in making the 'right' decision so I must be thorough for his sake as well. He is a very cautious 'buyer' and needs heaps of research before a decision, so I get that. Gotta be mutual, you know?

I understood from stats and research that Zlin performs a lower percentage and total number of egg donor procedures than other clinics, as its expertise was more in IVF, so it dropped down our list. As our focus is on a clinic with experience and success in egg donor procedures, we moved on. Happy to be corrected but that was based on recent stats...

Anyway - please know I appreciate the insights and wisdom. Thanks!
