Crystal - great news! So excited for you. We need constant postings from now on! If you have time

Tiggy - glad to hear you are staying out of your house. It does look like some relief on the weekend and hopefully next week. What is your leave date?

It wasn't me who called Alice Malice, it was Crystal! Very inappropriate to refer to our Alice in such terms! Gotta love the chuckles autocorrect gives.

WOW.. high girls.. yes haven't these Melb temps been ridiculous. I'm in suburbs, so not as high risk as where it sounds like some of you are.
Hope you are all safe, your family and any pets and animals.

Crystal - good luck from the bottom of my heart. This time is for you

Tiggy - your turn next... like sitting on the edge of a boat and diving in, one after the other... all to come back with a golden treasure each

Sperm - ok... here's what I just found out. We are in the middle of arranging DNA fragmentation testing, (due to slow growing embryos on our ED cycle) recommended by Karen Pace (U.S. Immune specialist) & also Dr Tsaltas tried to test it here in Melb a year ago, but as they do it manually they couldn't do it. Well we thought nothing of it since. But now, go to arrange having it done again, and find out, due to regulation changes there are only 2 places in ALL of Australia now doing it - QLD & Sydney !!!........ long story short... I spoke to a fantastic andrologist up in Sydney and got talking, as you do.. and I just happened to mention that CFC in SA didn't really say anything about abstaining for 3 days prior... then got asking the question about why do they recommend that here at my clinic in Melb?, and what if you didn't do that, etc?

Turns out... if you don't "expel" to put it politely 3 days prior (not any closer to the egg retrieval day), the longer it sits around for the big day the longer it can fragmate... NOW I don't know ANYTHING about this.. and of course I felt sick in the stomach at the time thinking, I don't think we did anything about "expelling" 3 days prior or even a little earlier than that... so now I'm personally thinking, what is our frozen sperm doing over there... is it good enough? Just another **** thing to worry about... but anyways.. that's not why I am bleating on - its just to suggest to you ladies to make sure hubba-doo has done his thing, with or without you, 3-5 days prior - Google it, ask someone else.. let me know if you find out any differently.. but blimey.. just another thing for us all to think and worry about !!

    Love to you all !

Sooty - wow, so much to have to think about. After the testing, would they be able to give you an idea of whether the frozen sperm is worth keeping?

Tiggy - are you just getting the scan at an ultrasound clinic?

Crystal - only a few minutes and you'll be in the sky! The adventure begins for real!

Stacey - thanks for the info. I have read that a lot of places which accept euro, also charge higher prices so like you say, pay in Czech wherever you can.

    Alice - don't you hate that.......errrgghhhhh

Kheeki - yes, sorry I forgot to tell the whole story as the only reason I was sharing it at this stage was because someone was asking about sperm for the big fertilisation day.
I'm sure the frozen sperm is ok (long as it thaws ok) - in the eyes of the embryologist, ie just by looking at it and choosing the strongest looking sperm... that's all they do, unless you use "HA binding" which we have done before, but the jury seems out on this as well amongst the professionals.
We will either get it tested in Sydney (fly it up there, as we can't make it -expensive exercise $280 to freeze, $300 to fly + tests at Sydney Lab end - cheaper to fly!!) as they have a machine that does it. OR we will see if CFC can do it in SA.. they say they can at this stage, but I want to be sure they know what they are doing, (one of the lab tech's has just left) & find out the cost, and there are all sorts of ways it should be frozen too I believe if testing from frozen.
CFC did say the sperm was ok, as it would never have fertilised the eggs in the first place if it wasn't, and they wouldn't have made it to Day 3. But I think it may be a bit more complicated than that, I guess dependant on who you are talking to. So we will do the test one way or another, and I am picking will be spending another $900 .... the money just doesn't stop running out the door
