I wouldn't stress too much, putting on weight doesn't necessarily mean you will have failed the GTT or have GD

As mentioned the test I had to do was the 2hr fasting test. The midwife said they don't bother with the 1hr test anymore.

A 2 hour > 8.0mmol is diagnostic of GDM but it varies between states. Some count over 7.8mmol as diagnostic.

    Also a fasting >5.5mmol

Goodluck hopefully you don't have it. It has very little to do with how much sugar you eat. It's based on your ability to metabolise sugar. Excess weight makes you more insulin resistant as does pregnancy.

Thank you. I dont eat much sugar as sugar but I eat a lot of carbs. So a restrictive diet will be hard on me. Fingers crossed I dont have it.

I failed it spectacularly and I'm a very healthy eater. I had to cut out all refined carbs, rice, cereal, starchey vegetables, all sugar. I was scrawny as after I gave birth. Still had a decent size baby despite eating so strictly and never having a high sugar reading.

So yes I hope you avoid it!

That sounds like torture! hg has restricted my diet already. All I eat is cereal, fruit salad then meals with mash or rice!
