I accidentally, deliberately stole a freddo frog when I was 5.

Accidentally - I forgot to pass it to mum so she could pay.

But before we walked out of the shop...

Deliberately - I knew she was busy with my little brother so wouldn't notice

My life of crime started early

A tin of formula that was in the pram hood. I didn't see it until I was almost at the car. Went back in and the store clerks couldn't care less. Too busy on their phones and chatting to pay any attention to me. So I paid for it self service and left.

My parents did this. My dad answered his phone and walked out to hear better. He took ages so mum followed him and they walked out together. The waitress chased them and they were mortified! But now go there all the time and its a funny story

Yes a box of roses chocolates. I was so drunk (in my younger party years) that I just walked out of the 7-11 with them. I nearly got in sooo much trouble when the shop assistant saw me Oh and a pumpkin from woolworths. I forgot to put it through the self serve checkout (how I don't know!) - I only realized when I went to put it in the car.

I bought a jacket from Target, got it home & modeled it for DH, unzipped the pocket to find a ring inside with the tag attached. Whoops, didn't even open the pockets before I bought it. If it had of set of the security sensors, I would have been mortified & looked like a thief.

I am not sure how the shops make money with all this self-serve checkout theft by absent-minded mothers!

Curious to know if you guys bring the items back to return to the shop the next time you go there? I always return items I or they forget to put through scanning. Same if I find they overcharge/incorrectly charge I'll come back and ask for my money back. Only time I bought couple of mangosteens, the price is for each but checkout lady enter quantity as 1 and i didn't pay attention. I came back another day try to explain to a different staff but they didn't really understand me and just told me never mind.
