    Default Over reaction?

So with abbot voted in DH has gone craycray and has suggested to move to Canada because we will be royally screwed. He is a fifo worker and says that abbot has stuffed all mining work and any work contracts that he will ever get......my question is, is DH over reacting or should I be worried??

I think Labor ran a great scar tactic. Change will happen and I don't think we will like all of it but honestly, I don't think we need to leave the country.

It's done now, lets are what unfolds. Hopefully it's not as bad as what some people are making out.

I'm intrigued as to why your DH thinks that mining jobs will all disappear with a coalition government. I work in the Hunter Valley where 8000 jobs have been lost from mining in the past 12 months under a labour government as project after project gets scrapped. My clients have confirmed that a number of projects would be recommenced upon a change of government.

Most people in mining are seeing a change in government as a good thing.

I think once the dust settles it won't be the doom and gloom everyone makes it out to be. I'm sure they'll make some crap decisions but they'll probably make good ones too.

It'll be torture watching Abbott fumbling through speeches and interviews, but I couldn't stand another 3 years of listening to Rudd either so we were kinda screwed in that department regardless!

I don't really know much about mining but the coalition will scrap the mining tax so would that be a good thing?

It is what it is so lets see what happens...

I work in the hunter valley on one of those project. There isn't anything that Tony Abbot can do about the global price of coal. Those jobs are lost because the mining boom is over. That has very little to do with any government IMO.

I seem to remember the same amount of fear when Labor was elected to govt 6 years ago. I think all will be ok
