Hi Lovely Ladies,
I'm new to forums only joined last night, downloaded the app today so I decided to start reading and writing... So please bear with me & Here is my story;
IVF BEGINNERS - OUR STORY
Me: 27 DH: 42
Together for 10 years
Trying to conceive 8 years
DH: Normal sperm & perfect
Me: Pelvic inflammatory disease
Engaged 16th June 2013
27th March 2013 - 1st Gynecologist appt to start begin journey to find out why we are not getting pregnant. Sent for a pelvic ultrasound.
1st May 2013 - Gynecologist appt to review pelvic ultrasound. Ultrasound was fine and it showed follicles and that I am ovulating. Partners sperm is perfect, great motility and volume. Referred to have day surgery for laparoscopy, hysterscopy, D&C and dye tube insuffulation.
20th August 2013 - Had day surgery, laparoscopy, hysterscopy, D&C and dye tube insuffulation.
29th August 2013 - Gynacologist appt re: Day surgery post op review and results from surgery. Devastating news as I was diagnosed with pelvic inflammatory disease. Confirmed bilateral tubal disease and loss of the normal fimbriae on the distal tubes on both sides. Adhesions were removed. Both tubes are open (not blocked). Was told there was a possibility of spontaneously getting pregnant however due to the duration of my sub-fertility I was Referred to IVF treatment and told to lose 12kg and get my BMI to 30.
7th October 2013 - 1st fertility clinic appt. Had lots of blood tests & all were fine, started taking folic acid.
16th October 2013 - 1st IVF fertility clinic appt with IVF specialist. IVF process explained briefly and given a 50/50% chance of success.
29th October 2013 - 1st appt with nurse coordinator. Process explained, signed IVF papers. Beginning of IVF process. Cycle was checked. Given instructions for my egg collection cycle and was prescribed to take Synarel nasal spray.
31st October 2013 - Started taking Synarel nasal spray twice daily in both nostrils then to decrease spray after 8 days. Advised to contact the clinic the day AF arrives to go for ultrasound.
The IVF process is all new to me and my partner. I guess I can say we have started our 1st IVF cycle and are staying positive. I have been doing some research on the internet and checking out blogs and decided to join and share our story.
Myself and DH have decided to not tell our family about our situation as we know we would be judged and not get the support that we need. It is difficult but as long as we have each other and stay positive. We shall get through this. I am a little worried and do have those down days when I think why me!
I have lost 5kg in 4 weeks. BMI is currently 33.4 and h I have 8kg to go. I am eating health and exercise every morning. The exercise is really helping me to feel much better inside and out. So here's to seeking some support from fellow IVFers
Here's to staying positive and always looking forward
