But clearly the right supports hate speech.

How is that hate speech? Hate speech is where someone is victimised on account of colour, ethnic origin, religion, disability or sexual orientation. Not spoken out against for being bigoted. If you are so offended and find swearing so hateful why on earth did you read the page? it is very clear from the site title that is it full of the F Bomb and even provides a warning at the beginning.

I see a website with that web address and I just don't bother with it. That's my stance, why is that so hard to understand? I see something not appropriate or relevant to what I think I should be reading and I exit the site or throw it in the bin. I think that's showing I don't endorse that type of attitude, and why I have a bigger problem when a candidate for PM is disrespectful, offensive or inappropriate. That is somebody running for office and representing a country I want to raise my children in, so you're d*mn right I'm going to care more about his actions than some Joe Blow that makes a stupid website that I can completely ignore and make sure my children don't see. Harder to ignore the actions of a PM candidate.

Again, hop off that high horse before you fall.
I'm just going to post this again for you because you seem to miss my point.

PS--I'm fairly certain if Rudd had basically said 'shut up' to Abbott you would have started a thread about it being unacceptable behavior of a PM. How's the air up there?

EXACTLY! And why I didn't bother delving further into the page! Why would I want to bother with an attitude/website like that?

Pretty sure calling someone a bigot is hateful

Just an opinion piece, but relevant to the bigot comments.

    http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/2948207

'It really comes down to this: If, based on your religious beliefs, you demonize people because of their sexual orientation or gender identity, and you deny people the right to have sex and marry, then you are against freedom and equality for those people. You are practicing bigotry. You are a bigot, and you deserve to be called a bigot.

Yes, it is right to call a bigot a bigot. In fact, it is a responsibility. I will embrace that responsibility whenever necessary, and I call upon everyone who values freedom and equality for all people to do the same.'

Not with my understanding of hate speech. Is it hate speech to call a racist a racist? or a homophobe a homophobe? No. It is not vilifying someone because of race, sexual orientation or religious belief, that is what hate speech is. My understanding of hate speech may be wrong though.

That sweary website?? I liked it! I liked it a lot! I shared it and all us lefties had a good old laugh. See, I read the disclaimer, I'm fine with profanity so I went ahead. It's just language to me.

It's an opinion and its a website I chose to visit, not something stuffed into my mailbox that I'm more or less forced to see.

Calling Abbott a bigot is hate speech? Gimme a break Father. If the shoe fits. The man is openly uncomfortable with homosexuality and wants to continue to deny people a basic human right based on sexuality.
It's not hate speech or defamation when it's true.

Have a picture of a child on a billboard with a message is the worst thing ever, along with someone asking if another 'ever shuts up'. They are disgusting. But a swearing hate filled rant against a member of parliament is perfectly acceptable.

It seems that it is not the principal of right and wrong, it is the side that matters.
If you are so opposed to such rhetoric then why were you not vocal at all about the plethora of anti-Gillard websites?
