I've gotten through when jasper was 3 months old and asleep. All other times I've removed them.

I'm located in the US, and I imagine that policies are different everywhere...but I had to take my baby out when she was in a sling carrier. When I had her in the Ergo, they let me leave her in.

I preferred the Ergo for travel, in all honesty - it was so easy to put my baby in and take her out. Plus, I was allowed to wear her on the plane in the Ergo -- but I had to take her out when I used my sling. Apparently only upright carriers are approved for use with the lapbelt.

I have a website at http://babywearingmama.org that has lots of tips about babywearing and swaddling, and especially about the Ergo.

    Happy travels!

Izy! I'm searching the forum for advice on baby wearing Izzy through airport and up pops a familiar face... Help. Never done baby wearing but have an absolute clingon of a child. I'm flying alone with her to South Africa to see my dad and mom. Dad is very ill with stage 4 cancer and after our last loss I want to go see them but DH can't come. I'm thinking a tula toddler but have no idea. Izzy is no featherweight at 17.5kg but I'm fine carrying her as long as balance and not on my hip.... Other brands I've seen are kinder pack and action baby carrier but I don't know where to start.... Hope you and lil man are well

We've just had a holiday and wore 9mo bub outwards facing through a number of airports, he loooved it, wiggled and giggled every time we walked anywhere and was fascinated by security and all the beeping machines I had to take him out of the carrier in Australian airports but not in Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur. I am so glad we took a carrier, I also wore him when eating (difficult but not impossible) at places that had no high chair and he happily helped himself off our shared plate. Yes we looked a sight when we finished

I had to take my wrap off through security on one end but not on the return trip. On the first flight, they let me keep DD in the wrap between take off and landing but made me take her out on the trip back. As she was only two months at the time and I was travelling alone, I had brought a Baby Bjorn just in case that happened because, even though she sleeps better in the wrap, I didn't want to be holding her for a 3 hour flight.

It really all depends on who you get and how they interpret the rules.
