Lego itself is indeed awesome. Like cockroaches, I imagine it'll survive everything and anything nature and generations of overzealous children can throw at it. But the fact remains that the price of Lego in Australia - particularly in comparison to other countries - is absurd. All Lego is made equal, with the same standards by elements of the same company, and yet we're forced to pay twice as much as people in Europe and the US.

I freaking HATE lego!! DS loves it. We only buy him the little sets because he'd much rather build his own things. I want I slowly vacuum it all up. My poor feet!

We have DH's massive collection from when he was little. Doesn't stop him buying more for DS all the time. Spent $130 the other day on a boat and helicopter thingy. DS is 2. Technically he should still be playing with duplo.

That said I'd much prefer Lego than the cheap $10 Kmart toys my dad buys him.

Yes, this is true, and certainly sucks. But it's true of most things. We're such chumps.

DS got so much lego for his birthday - and refused to open and put them together one at a time, that now he has a mass of mixed up lego and says it is too hard to put them all together.

I love that my Mum kept our old lego

It also makes great home security, sprinkle small bits at the doorway, voila! Instant alarm system for break ins
