I'd start with the GP and go from there, they might be able to do some tests without you being referred. My OB walked in to catch DS2 but only just.

Hi everyone! It's a bit late in the month but I feel I need to join to keep me from testing too early and being disappointed!!!! I'm on CD26 today but not sure when my ovulation day was... how does everyone set their testing date?

You're meant to ovulate 14 days prior to your period counting backwards regardless of your cycle length. I also believe that the earliest you can get a positive (albeit a faint one) is around 10-12 days post ovulation.

I set my date as the due date for AF... Probably won't stick to that though !

Well I'm due for AF tomorrow so think I'll test in the morning. Have had subtle cramps on and off for the past week, don't really know what to think of them. It's our first cycle and was just using FF to guess when I ovulated so I'll be hugely surprised if I manage to get a BFP! Sending lots of baby vibes to all you ladies

Not necessarily your cycle length can be anywhere between 28 and onwards, when I first started my first cycle was 40 days, the next 37 and now I'm down to 29

That's a bit trickier when your cycle is so variable isn't it? I guess you would need an ovulation predictor test to help you then. I have a longer cycle averaging 32 days but fell pregnant this time by accident while on the pill after DTD about 10 days into my cycle. Which to me suggests that the sperm had to be waiting for the egg for some days before It was released, I couldn't believe it. It was one time!
