So don't apply for it if the $7 is more trouble than it is worth?

It's not mandatory to apply and if it distresses you so much then give it a miss.

If you wanted to cancel the parenting payment, it's as simple as calling and asking that it be.
Otherwise if you stop reporting they will eventually cancel it. I think it's after 2 fn of not reporting?

this is the estimate the online calc gave me not taking into account the advance im paying off or the centrepay deductions i have coming out or rate reductions that are now applied

also i looked at dps income estimate its at 565000 n mines at 6 putting us at 62000 which is extremely far off the mark but that's just what its been put at when i asked i was told its best to over estimate rather than under estimate as dps income can vary week to week depnding what shifts hes on
Do you realise that with his after tax income and your payments your family income is almost the equivalent of a family earning $80k a year? Minus their tax and you are getting very close to the same in the hand.

It's frustrating you have debts and expenses, but you aren't without means or support.

frustrating that we do the right thing & still struggle
i know people who have & do claim single parent when they aren't and now fully understand why they would wrought the system
He may have done something as simple as ticking "no" for claiming the tax free threshold on his tax form which is a very common mistake (I work in payroll) which would mean he gets taxed a lot higher as none of his earnings are tax free. Should be able to ask his payroll what his tax rate is.

ETA: if your dp is earning about $650 a week (gross) he should only paying about $65 claiming tax free threshold and no hecs etc.

Call them and say you no longer want parenting payment.

I would be more than happy to share. I'm meticulous with my budgeting and am very good at it. I wasn't meaning to come across condescending, but sometimes when things are tight it helps to lay it all out and assessing what you have and what you need to pay.

I totally get why you're feeling deflated by the situation, we were in a really, really shiz situation about 4 years ago, but we pushed through, worked our butts off, ate noodles too often and sacrificed loads to get ahead. In the end it was the only solution.

Good luck OP. I hope you can work something out.

We had a time where we had $500, we were left with $20 each week after groceries bills etc.......we had no assistance from the government and just made it work. We didn't have any luxuries and we literally slept on a mattress on the floor......maybe be great full you get any help from the government and not complain when you receive so much from the ftb.....
