Sorry, I don't usually reply to these types of threads but I must say I do find it a bit frustrating when people whinge about their financial situation when they are receiving a couple of hundred dollars a week in FTB. What more do you expect from the government?

As others have pointed out with govt payments it seems you are getting cash in hand a reasonable amount to support a family.

If you desire more income earn it as everyone else does. While I understand venting about the rising costs of living, I am struggling to understand where this sense of entitlement to government funds comes from.

I totally get why you're feeling deflated by the situation, we were in a really, really shiz situation about 4 years ago, but we pushed through, worked our butts off, ate noodles too often and sacrificed loads to get ahead. In the end it was the only solution.

Good luck OP. I hope you can work something out.
Guess I took it in the offence as I was in a crappy mood.
Yer I try budget and try make sure the never ending bills are paid & great flu that I receive FTB. N just feels like we are going nowhere fast it's extremely frustrating.
It's crap that the cost of living keeps going up n wages don't. DP is working over time tomorrow so we can have more $ to put towards rego next week but its the yay payday n then broke the next living week to week sucks so much.

Well and good but this is illegal and if someone dobbed them in there'd be hell to pay.

    OP, I get your frustration
Is there any reason you can't apply for child support or failing that, a CS exemption for your DS? That might be a big help.

I'm not receiving a couple hundred in FTB a week it's per fortnight I get FTB it's the people who have the luxury of not needing goverment benefits to get by that don't understand what it's like & have the luxury if being able to look down their noses & say they don't understand. You're right you don't

Would love to be able to get a job & afford childcare. But I have no license & DP works stupid shifts no family or friends to help out with kids. It's not always that easy. It may seem like a " reasonable amount" but I assure you after bills are paid & groceries fuel etc we are left with nothing or very close to nothing living week to week is very hard & those who don't have to rely on government payments have it very lucky.
Do u know how worthless it makes u feel when u need the $ from Centrelink to feed yourself & kids. Or to ensure your electricity is paid cause you've received final demand n disconnection notices. Or to run out of gas & not have the $ for another cylinder or to not be able to give your kids the $10 for the book they would like.
It's $hit ill tell you that much

I have worked at one point I was working 3 jobs &DP was working away on a station & it was hard but I managed with the help of housemate who I was living with & was a very small town where I could walk everywhere so not having my license wasn't as bad as it is here. I have no licenses no family or friends to turn to for support. Daycare is $58 a day before CCR & CCB and to work I need school hours cause then I'd also need before & after school care or hours that worked around my partners ever changing shifts.
It's not as easy as get a job especially when there is no work here

I'm single, earn less, pay heaps more rent, no PPS and still don't see how you can complain about how little CL you receive?

I think I understand where you are coming from OP. Even though your husband may earn alot compared to other families, it still may only just cover the mortgage, loans, cars, groceries and basics, etc.

Everyone's situation is different and just because one person earns more, doesnt mean its any easier for them to pay their bills or support their family and doesnt mean they cant vent about it. !!

Exactly, it's frustrating seeing someone complain about getting more than I could ever receive if I needed it.

Because your household income in $2200 a fortnight. That is the same as someone earning $80k a year would get paid a fortnight. After tax.
