Default 3 yo sleep has gone pear shaped

Over the last few weeks my 3yo ds sleep has just gone really bad.

He wakes up and wants one of us with him or wants to hop into our bed. Sometimes he wakes up distressed (like tonight) and tells us he's not well, but has no temp and other than a cough he's had for a while he seems fine. He just screams and screams if we leave him and tosses and turns whilst where there. Other nights the reaction is still the same if we leave him but he wakes up seemingly ok, just wonders down to our room, it's when we take him back to his bed that he cracks it.

It just breaks my heart listening to him cry and scream when we leave but we have a 9 month old so we're just soo tired at the moment, we need to get ontop of this.

He's sobbing in his room at the moment, even with my dh in there with him - any ideas on how we can try and reassure him everything is ok and he can go back to sleep?

OUR DS was doing this a lot, he has a million comforters and kept losing them. He now has his own lead torch that seems to help and if I do have to go into see him he settles pretty quickly.

He check things with his torch before he sleeps (if wakes)

Also found that if his room was messy he was getting scared of monsters. We make sure room is clean now and nothing that will cast an odd shadow has helped a lot too.

My 3Yo went thru a few months of night terrors or nightmares.

So we co slept to ride it out. Three months later she is starting to sleep in her bed much much better.

Don't take him back to his own bed, let him sleep with you.

Agree on letting him sleep with you. If everyone is getting sleep that way isn't that a win?
