    Default Horseshoe kidney

Hi all does anyone have any experience with horseshoe kidneys? Our bubby has this, we just found out on our morph scan I'm stressed out and they haven't explained too much to us.

I will be going to talk to my doctor about it as well of course

One thing I read online is that it can be related to trisomy 18 and Turner syndrome, neither of which I know anything about

Hi Hun. my friends twin girls had this at birth. One is perfectly fine the other has had a fair few infections and then had a stent put in which then got infected and was taken out. She has been without it for 6 months and has been perfectly fine.

Hope this helps. Both girls are now 16months.

Thanks, I am so worried do you know if either of them had anything mentioned about trisomy 18 or Turner syndrome? I know I shouldn't consult dr google but those popped up as the cause and I'm freaking out..

I've just rung the midwife and they are going to see if they can organize a meeting for us with a doctor to discuss it.

As far as I know neither of them have that. I also have a duplex kidney on one side myself which is similar but is one kidney instead of two and never even knew until I was 16 and they did and ultrasound looking for something else.

No experience SAgirl but wishing you goodluck. It sounds like it can be related to down syndrome (trisomy) or Turners syndrome but it can also just exist on its own.

no experience with this in kids - but my DP found out only a few years ago that he has a horseshoe kidney. I had never heard of it before then....and he hasn't had any medical issues that can be linked to it. He was having a scan for an unrelated issue when they saw it.
