My mum put it like this to me: you wouldn't expect to go the dentist and have a tooth ripped out without pain relief, so if you need pain relief to get a baby out, there's nothing wrong with it.

It made sense to me. I don't feel any less of a woman or mother because I succumbed to an epidural. I would have liked to have done it without one, but it didn't happen.
Thanks Smurfy - your mother is wise!! I like her thinking

Smurfy that's a great way of looking at it!

MissX you can download a contraction counter on your phone. Also its your first time you can't know what you are looking for, lots of first time mums think its labour when its not. But I hope it is for you!

mommyindec- Meadow is great thanks. Feeding so well and put on over a pound in 10 days! Toby is adjusting very well to her, giving lots of cuddles and kisses. He did ask if the doctor would put her back in my tummy yesterday though! ha ha. My mum has gone home today so feeling a bit wobbly!

Butterfly- congratulations. hope its a sticky and it must be the best feeling after IVF.

Toni- congratulations to your friend! Bub must have come quick then if you only saw her that day!

Miss x- lovely bump photo. Wonder if it is labour starting! For me, the contractions were quite clear. Tightening that got more regular and painful. Good luck if this is it!

Rainbow- I love your nursery. And great you're recording your bump progress like that, great to see bub grow.

Re. the discussion about pain relief. I didn't want to have anything so bub wouldnt be affected when born and I could feel what my body wanted to do. but having done it drug free, it was the most intense experiences ever and I would never look down on someone who decided to use pain relief. I may use it myself next time, especially if its forceps again as that wasn't pleasant with no pain relief let me tell you! lol

thanks ladies - I am starting to think it is over OR it is bub sitting on something bad. I just got out of bed and the first few steps were painful and what I have been feeling all afternoon. then after walking around for a bit, then having a shower, started to feel normal again.
So i just sat on the couch and the pain has started up again! So I layed down on my side, pain subsided (not fully gone), I moved slightly to have a drink and BAM, the cramping starts again! Bit TMI - but it feels like i am trying to pass a hard stool, but it is stuck!
will keep still - hopefully i will get some rest - but i am starting to think this isn't it. OB appt on Thursday morning
