    Default Induction booked experiences needed

I'm booked in for an induction later this week.
Going in Thursday night for gel, then next morning they'll break my waters. What's your experiences with this scenario?
Cervix is not dilated at the moment but is soft and thin. Bub is also engaged and in position ready to go.
How long after they broke your waters did bub come?

With dd3 they broke my waters 8.30 ish she was born 5.37 that afternoon

Dd1 around 4.30 in the afternoon and she was born at 8.29 that night

Edit I had gel both these times the night before because cervix was high & very closed I also had the Syntocinon with dd1

I was induced for DS 6 weeks ago. My cervix was very posterior so the gel didnt work for me, basically it wasn't in contact with my cervix so couldn't take effect. I ended up having a mechanical indication, then waters broken. The time frame was roughly:
    6pm Friday - gel inserted
6am Saturday - gel removed, no effect
7am Saturday - mechanical induction (catheter inserted into cervix)
Nothing happened all day Saturday, was told to be ready for cs on Sunday morning
10pm sat night - woo hoo started dilating, about 4cm at 10pm, waters broken manually by OB
    4am Sunday morning - almost 10cm!
Started pushing just before 6am, DS born at 6:30am

I hadn't really prepared mentally for the indication with the gel not working, so just sharing my story to bring it up as a possibility. I had an epidural before the mechanical induction cos it involved a fair amount of, umm, how shall I put it... 'excavating' ...for them to get to my cervix cos of its position so it's not like I was in painful labour that whole time.

Overall it was a generally positive experience.

    Good luck!!

Hi it's not so bad I was induced with ds1 he was 10 dpdd I went into the hospital 8:30pm was given gels nothing happened so had my waters broken around 10:30pm nothing ended up being put in the drip around 12pm yay contractions ds1 was born at 5:35 am was not as painful as I was told I had en epidural but sadly it didn't work when I went into the hospital originally I was dilated 2 cm. with ds 2 I went into labour naturally four days early contractions 5 mins apart went into hospital 7:30am and labour stopped so had waters broken nothing ended up being out in the drop around 12am and bub was born at 6:35pm 2nd time round I had a bit of gas but couldn't be bothered with epidural coz it didn't work the first time lol so I didn't bother, overall labour wasn't to painful and was pretty fast, good luck jef go in with a positive kind and just stay as relaxed as you can thinking if meeting your amazing little baby x

I was induced with all 3 of my labours , the last was a booked induction. I found I hesitated too much in getting an epidural for the first 2 but for the last I asked for one as soon as the contractions got strong and it was less painful. I don't remember how long it took for bubs to come after the waters being broken I think it was a couple of hours.

Hi OP. as someone has previously mentioned I also wasn't mentally prepared for the gel not to work first go. With DD I had 3 doses!!! But fortunately the final dose sent me into labour, I requested an epidural hours later and when my OB came in I was 4 cms, so given I was already bed bound - with my permission she broke my waters and started the drip - bub was born about 6 hrs later.

With DS one dose of gel sent me straight into labour and he was in my arms 5 hrs later - no need to have waters broken or drip.

So I have had two fantastic induction experiences and would very happily be induced again

    Good luck and enjoy!
