Default Ergobaby Carrier & Infant Insert

    Hi all
I am looking at purchasing the Ergobaby Carrier and Infant Insert tomorrow to use with my almost 3 week old baby. I just would love to hear from those who have used this with their newborn bubs and how did you find it?
    Thanks

I found it a bit tricky having a newborn plus insert. DS was 4.52kg at birth so him plus the insert was really squashed in there. Plus living in darwin it was extremely hot. I never r used the insert in the end and he great head control so just had him in the ergo from about 5 weeks without the insert. I love the ergo though! What type are you getting? ( I had the original now have the sport).

I have the Ergo Sport and used it with the infant insert. My daughter loved it up until about 6-7 weeks old, but then wanted the freedom of kicking her legs and hated having to have "froggy legs" in the infant insert. We started using it again when she had really good head control, at about 12 weeks. It's such a comfortable carrier, I love it.

I was looking at getting the Original, but what is different with the Sport?
So even if bub doesn't like it with the insert atleast I will be able to use it later on although I hope she will love it because at the moment she loves to fall asleep on me or be held and I am getting nothing else done.

I didn't even look at the original, for me I was choosing between the sport and performance. There is more padding on the shoulder straps on the sport and its a more breathable fabric.

I have the Ergo Performance (mean't to be the coolest), and really didn't like using it with DS2 with the infant insert. I found the insert wayyyy too hot - and he was born in April (we're in Brisbane). I also found the ergo to be too bulky with a tiny baby (I do love the ergo - used it with DS1 from 8 - 18 months, just don't like it for a newby). I used a hug-a-bub wrap when he was a newby and moved onto the ergo when I didn't have to use the insert.

I used the ergo original with the insert and loved it. Honestly I didn't find it tricky or hot. I live in qld. I just dressed bub in a singlet in it so she didn't get hot.

I didn't use mine at all with any of my newborns, as all my babies were on the smaller side and they just seem to vanish inside! I didn't begin to use mine until my babes were at least 6 months old plus and by then I couldn't have done without it.

I had the original which I found too hot (5 years ago), so with the last baby I bought the performance, which has been much better. I started using the infant insert around 3-4 weeks (he was 3.6 Kg at birth). When he outgrew the insert I took the cushion out and just used that in the Ergo for a while so he wasn't so hot.

I should add, it's quite fiddly when you're out and have to get bub into the infant insert then carefully wiggle them into the carrier. I used to have to lay the infant insert on my passenger seat, get bub out and lay her on the insert then try to get her into the carrier while keeping her legs bent up. Now that she's bigger, it's just out of the car seat and easily slides into the carrier.
