Default Can you still get the flu if you have had the flu shot

I had a sniffly nose and sneezing that started on Friday but I just put it down to allergies, as the weekend progressed I started getting horrible body aches, blinding headaches, sore throat, nausea, extreme fatigue and now I have noticed my glands are swollen or something because I have 2 lumps on each side of my neck. Someone said it was because I ate junk over the weekend so my body is rejecting it or something but I don't know. Could it be the flu I did have the shot earlier this year or is it something else? If it is still bad tomorrow I will go to the dr but don't want to feel silly if it is just something simple

Yes you can - the shot doesn't cover every type of flu. You may also have a bad cold rather than a flu (especially since you are sneezing etc).

Eating junk does not cause swollen glands etc. yes it may well be a strain of flu you weren't vaxxed for or some other virus or infection. I would go to the dr. Hope you feel better.

    Yep this ^

Sooooo many people think because they get the flu shot that they will never get sick (cold or flu) again!

    Hope you feel better soon.

You can't catch pneumonia from the flu shot- the flu shot contains inactivated flu viruses, not pneumonia viruses and no live viruses anyway. Sounds like he's just been unlucky, poor guy.

You sure can...my mother gets the flu shot every yr and I can garentee she gets sick after every one. She doesn't get the flu but she gets a really bad cold/chest infection.
