I had a student midwife and she was fantastic. So supportive and attentive. Would recommend giving it a try, its an extra person on your side.

I guess I'm the unlucky one. While my student wad a lovely girl she was not proactive at all. I had monitoring at all of my last few appointments and she would complain about the way the midwives were taking my bp, etc, but only to me and my dh if he was there. She completely missed my labour, which was fine by me.

There was a student through the hospital who was there for most of labour who was amazing, though!!

I've got a student midwife for my current (1st) pregnancy and am really happy with the experience. We've had some BP issues appear in the last couple of weeks, and it has been fantastic having her there to help demystify and explain what's going on. I'm really hoping she'll be available for the delivery (because she works part-time at the hospy).

    I`d highly recommend it!

I was asked if I would have a student in the room for birth when I was in labour. I ended up liking him more than the actual midwife.

I had a student deliver DS. She was amazing!
I allowed her to do the entire labour and delivery, I was so impressed with her.
She would be an amazing midwife now.

I haven't had any hospital appointments yet, but I would be happy to take one on. I am a nurse and had applied to midwifery this year, but was not successful, so we are having a baby instead.

I understand the requirements of the course etc so will be happy to have one with me.
