    Default 4mo with nasty cough

My 4mo has quite a nasty dry cough - is there anything I can do for it? The poor little mite is having a hard time staying asleep because he keeps waking himself up coughing

Keep them upright as much as possible (ie, elevate the upper body). This might mean putting something under one end of the cot or under the mattress.

If they still can't sleep then is taking them for a drive possible? Baby car seats tend to put them in a slightly inclined position.

You could also try a saline nose spray from the chemist. I think you can get ones for babies, something like Fez but in an applicator that you can use on a baby.

i also would take bub to a doctor. too many virusis about, too many common germs, and lilttle ones can get serious very quickly. There is not much you can do as far as treatments, medicines, but it is worth having bub checked out. Marie.

Thanks everyone. I didn't even think to elevate him - will have to elevate his bassinet tonight. I've just had a nap with him on me and he slept much better. Will pay a visit to the dr asap.
