My understanding (with our cover at Medibank) is that there is a 2 month waiting period for private psychiatric care (inpatient in a private clinic). We had to up our cover for similar reasons.

Have you talked to Butterfly Foundation? They maybe able to help with resources in your area for eating disorders.

Waiting for private can be pretty quick once you are referred.

The New Farm Clinic also has an eating disorders in patient program but it is also private. I don't know what the fees would be to pay them directly.

Oh bugger, I don't have two months. I need to go now. I'm struggling and my pool opens on the 21st September. I have no choice but to be there

The new farm clinic is too expensive. I did have Outpatient counselling there when I was much younger but my mum paid! Thank you though xxx

Its usually only 2 months for psychiatric.
i attended a day program before our phi kicked in and I only went one- two days a week and paid $60 per day (with mental health plan). Once phi kicks in its $250 excess once and then you can go as many times as you want as well as impatient.
i have heard that New Farm Clinic has a good day program. They are worth a call to see prices, even without phi.

You could be admitted to a public unit while you serve to two months and then transfer over to New Farm (or similar). That way you are getting some support in the mean time.

I feel for you so much

I really want inpatient. I need to be able to start this without worrying how I'm affecting the kids anymore. Going to Brisbane for day trips is good but it's a four hour drive plus $100 in petrol, organising someone to look after our school kids after school and taking our two and four year olds with me. Plus work starts soon and that's 60 hours a week

I just wanted to say as a long term hubber you are one of the most respected, sweetest, kindest and admired persons on this forum. By getting the help you need you are doing what's best for you which by definition is what's also best for your children.

I hope you can get the help you need. Whilst it might only be words on a page in a post the concern and love for you is genuine, not just for me but many MANY other hubbers.

    xx
