Also endone is 5mg where as the lowest dose of oxynorm is 10mg.

It's horrible that they refused to help you Ffrenchie. Are you still thinking of going to your friends in Brisbane to access outpatient services?

No oxynorm.can be bought in 5mg tablets aswell a lot of patients can swallow capsules more easily then tablets. They were originally brought out for cancer patients who find it hard to swallow anything when they are so sick which is why it is also in liquid version.

Not stronger drug but you can get it in higher doses such as 10 and 20 mgs its just so you need less 5mg tablets , it does also come in 5mg tablets. The difference with Oxynorm is that it can also be bought in liquid form and in the hospitals we can also get it in ampoules for injection. All very strong drugs as it is synthetic Morphine.

What I meant by stronger was that it's a higher dose. Endone is 5mg and oxynorm starts at 10mg my DH has been on opiates for 11.5 years. You tend to learn a lot about them in that time.

DH used to get authority scripts for a months supply. It worked out cheaper for us because of his pension card but I'm not sure if you'd have to pay full price for both packs? Also on your current care plan I'm not sure if the dr would allow it.

I stand corrected on that one. It's always just been prescribed as endone at that dose.

might just be that your dr knew your dh needed a higher dose so easier to take only 1 capsule and not go through them as quickly. Most times people are on the higher doses so it does make sense to reduce the amount of tablets you take.

My brother suicided while he was under psychiatric care. All his psych said later was "I didn't realise he was serious".

That's the crappy state of mental health care in this country.

I do wonder how arguing about the available dosages of different drugs is helpful to the OP. It all seems a bit tedious and inappropriate given the origins of the thread.

    But maybe that's just me.

Frenchie, I have no practical advice. I have never been in your situation or known anyone who has been. I really do hope that you come through this all relatively unscathed. xx Good luck.
