    Default Gestational Diabetes

    Hi Everyone,
Sorry if I haven't posted in the correct area.
I wanted to ask if anyone could shed some light on the GD tests. I'm 25 weeks with my first & my dr has provided me with a referral for a blood test to check my risk of GD. I asked him whether I'll be required to have the other GD tests through my OB or midwife & he said no, just the blood test. Everyone else I've spoken to have said they had to have the oral tests so now I'm a little confused!
Has anyone else only had to have a blood test to test for GD? Just wanting to know so I'm prepared for the appointment I've got nxt week!

The GD test I had involved drinking a sugar concoction and then blood tests after an hour. I didn't know there was another test - maybe it's the same.

Doc has probably just failed to mention you have to drink the nasty sugary drink and hour before the blood test.... I had it last week, sculled the drink, thinking to myself 'this isn't too bad' and then 10 mins later felt sooooo nauseated!

I did one earlier in my preg than you are which was the drink then a one hour wait and then they took my blood (generally this test is done at your gestation though) and then at about as far along as you are I had a blood test without the drink and they checked something in that to decide if I had GD.
I didn't end up with it and fingers crossed you don't too

Thanks everyone. There's nothing on my referral to say I need to fast so I'm assuming I am right to go for the blood test after eating!! Will see I guess!
