My Dad bless him uses LOL, he thinks it means lots of love so he's the only one I don't mind
One of my bosses thought it meant lots of love also, was a very awkward conversation when i had typed LOL to him and i got a whole heap of question marks back and then "ummm i think you need to come to my office" .

And im same 99% of the time im not even laughing when i type LOL i just find whatever it is funny.

Perhaps I am taking "lol" too literally
Yeah it's more like a little 'ha' rather than a laugh with its own meaning.

I'm guilty of "haha" too. I started using it because I am so concious of how I come off online, it's hard to convey a certain tone so I throw in a lot of haha's and smileys to make it clear I'm not being a b!sh.

I hate lol! But I do (only) use it at the end of a sentence occasionally to let the recipient know that I'm being lighthearted as opposed to deadly serious. I can be a but dry and in writing that may come across as harsh.... That's the only reason I might use the horrid lol!

hi, I have also heard it to mean lots of love, so i dont like to use something that can have two meanings. If i want to say lots of love, i say that, if i want to say laugh out loud, i say that. I cant be bothered with abbrivations most of the time. ( why is abbriviations such a long word. ?? ) lol , marie

I'm guilty of overusing 'lol' 'haha' and 'like' in sentences.

LOL! Guilty!!! I start sentences with lol, end them with it, etc ,etc!!! I don't say it IRL! That is what my smile and giggles are for, which normally start and end my conversations and go through out. I guess I should use more smiley faces instead thou cause i'm not really laughing out loud but smiling I agree with a previous poster about it can not mean laughing out loud, laughing on the inside maybe? LOTI, is that a new one or have I just never heard of it used before!!??

When they are used in the wrong context, yes I can see the frustration, like lol my dog just died...no not right at all!!! lol I just kicked my toe, probably border line because I wouldn't be laughing but you would laugh at me!

That drives me insane, "....and I said "lol"... ". What????? No, I believe you laughed!!!! Geez. Lol. (I'm only slightly annoyed, see how I lolled at the end there) . haha. Ok ok, I'm out.
