    Default fertility specialists in Hobart

    Hello all,

I've just had my 3rd miscarriage so I went to my GP to get some advice and a referal to a FS. She basically said that we'd have to do IVF and gave me a referal for TasIVF. After having a think about this I feel that I really need to have some more tests done before we go down the IVF pathway. i seem to be able to get pregnant without too much trouble but each time have miscarried (at 10 weeks, 6 weeks and 5 weeks). From what I understand IVF wont really help with this as I'm still just as likely to miscarry after an IVF transfer.

Does anyone know of a good fertility specialist that I can see in Hobart?

    TIA

Hi, I have had 2 miscarriages very early on, but have no problems getting pregnant at all (we have got bfp every month without contraception). My gp referred me to hobart obgyn to see dr brodribb. I haven't been yet, so cannot tell you what it's like, but there has been no mention of ivf for us. I've also had a huge range of bloods done to check for clotting problems etc. maybe you could ask about that first?

Thanks for your reply Del0688. My GP also ordered a bunch of blood tests, which I had done. But the results have been sent to TasIVF so I wont get them until our appointment, which is in late September so that is a bit frustrating. I'd be interested to hear how you go with Dr Brodribb when you've had your appointment. If you feel that he/she is helpful for you I might see if I can also get an appointment with them.

We've pretty much decided that IVF is not for us just yet, so if TasIVF can't offer any other fertility treatment/tests then we will have to find someone else.

Definitely get a good look at those blood test results, it might be something as simple as needing to take a low dose asprin from conception to thin your blood a little, or Clexane to stop clotting. All the best.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear you have had so many problems staying pregnant it must be heart breaking for you and hubby at times. I've been a patient of TAS IVF in the past and they aren't all about IVF they assist with all kinds of fertility problems. I think it would be well worth the money to go and have a chat and get some feedback on your situation. My Dr is Bill Watkins and hes great but I've heard good things about the others. Best of luck with your appointment.
