    Default PCOS and egg quality

    Hi ladies,
My hubby and I are planning on starting a family soon. I have PCOS and even though I am on the pill my cycle is irregular. I was diagnosed 8 years ago.
My sister who had terrible endo and has had her children is having a hysterectomy in a few months and asked me a question today that kinda spun me out. She's aware about my concerns about getting pregnant with PCOS and asked if I would like to explore having some of her eggs frozen incase the quality of my eggs is poor due to the PCOS.
I had never imagined that my eggs could be compromised due to PCOS - and after some Internet research I'm feeling confused.
Do any of you ladies have any idea/experience with this?

I was also diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago and was unaware of that there could of been a problem with the quality of my eggs, which in my case i am guessing they were ok as i am now pregnant and i was lucky to get a period once every 4 - 6 months, they still weren't regular when i did fall pregnant. It is very considerate of your sister offering to do this for you though. Maybe chat with your doctor as like anything I am guessing every case is different and if PCOS does affect quality of eggs it would depend on how bad your PCOS is.

PCOS is a spectrum disorder I guess you could say - you may have no problems with your eggs. I had problems with my egg quality due to cystic ovaries, longer cycles, hormone problems with our first and ttc our current embie. I was able to ride on the coat tails of previous pregnancies with our two other children before having two mcs. Hopefully you will have no problems, but unfortunately you won't know this until everything unfolds. It is so wonderful of your sister to offer this - if I was in your position I would talk to your fertility specialist. When they diagnosed your PCOS, they may have an idea of how much it "may" affect your eggs and if the treatments that may work...if needed.

It totally all depends on what kind of pcos you have and how severe it is. Usually if you have lots of cysts you can pop over ripe or under ripe eggs. There are drugs you can take like metfotmin which can increase help egg quality. Just because you have pcos doesn't mean you will automatically have problems with your eggs.

I'm going to sub this for later. I have pcos and had no idea it can affect the quality of eggs! If I had that offer, I would take it just in case. Hope it all works out for you op xx

Thanks so much ladies! I've just moved to Perth from a regional area so I'll find myself a new Gyno and have a chat to them about it.
