But you don't 'have' to go during the unstaffed hours.

I was part of a 24hr gym before I fell pregnant. They have security cameras and staff on call during the unstaffed hours and entry is through a buzzer thing that only members have the thing to.

I rang ours. It's 10-7pm weekdays, if I or dh went it would either be very early morning or after 730pm

There would be plenty of people there early morning or after 7.30am. Plus what would the staff do if someone did hurt themselves or have a heart attack? The risk of NOT exercising and keeping healthy would be worse than going to a gym and MAYBE breaking an ankle or something...you could break an ankle/have a heart attack etc walking around the block. You could get mugged/raped/attacked too. In broad daylight. Just saying.

Theres always a bunch of buff doods at my gym right upto about 11pm. They always lend a hand if i need them to take a big weight plate off the leg press etc.

DH goes to a 24 hour gym and at random times I don't think he has ever been the only person there.

I don't really see how it's any different to going into work out of hours, or working in a 24 hour shop etc. in fact it seems somewhat safer as you need an ID card to enter and there's panic buttons and surveillance. If someone was going to commit a random crime against another person there's other places they can get much easier access to someone! I think it's fine for people who want to exercise at night/early morning.
