We had our first FS appointment today...

End result was a bunch of blood tests for both of us, another SA for DH. A tracking cycle for myself and a booking for me to have a laparoscopy in November (earliest the FS could do it to fit with my cycles and annual leave for us and the FS). I get quite bad AF pain on CD1 so he thinks I may have endo.... I really don't want a lap so hope we manage to get a BFP before then...

The interesting thing was he reckoned that because my cycles are pretty much accurate at 28 days there is no way I can be ovulating when my FF, OPK'S AND temps say I am as in his opinion its too late. Not sure I agree with that but I guess he is the specialist?! The tracking cycle I will do will soon determine which one of us is right!!

Tully I hope you get some "me" time after the tough week you have had

I hear ads on the radio all the time about IVF and have always wondered.

AFM af is over yay back to the fun of Ttc for another month. I'm exhausted and stressed from work, the lady I work with has gone on annual leave and left the biggest mess ever I'm slowly drowning in paperwork.

My dd is off to her dads on weekend for Father's Day I am forcing her as she hates going to his house. I feel she should go its fathers day, But secretly I just need me time just to relax and just enjoy me.

    No, not rude at all
The costs of IVF vary from clinic to clinic and depending on where you are. Some of the capital cities have cheaper IVF clinics. I am not at a cheaper clinic in fact I think I chose the dearest one.My first cycle which they call a stim cycle involves injections and egg pick up was $9000 up front but we got $5200 back (at the end of the cycle) from medicare. I have private health too and it paid for my day surgery fees (approx $1500). You can also claim on tax and we got a few hundred back for that. Frozen cycles are $3000 out of pocket and we just got $1500 back. In the frozen cycle we also paid for our support meds $444 for that .
Some clinics let you pay the difference and then they claim the remainder back through medicare (mine did not) It is a lot of money to have up front and it is a big blow when you pay that and walk out empty handed. I was lucky in the sence that I got a good number of fertilised eggs and had 9 that grew out to day 5 which is far as science can take them too before they hatch. Some ladies unfortunately pay that amount and end up with none.

Laurs it does take a while to get the initial tests done. Mine took 2 months because they have to test at different days of your cycle and I had a few small hiccups to as the FS didn't tell me DH and I had to astain prior to one lot of tests and we didn't so we had to wait another full month as the test was done on CD9.

Jenjen I haven't tried alternative treatments yet. I am on a lot of supplements though just this last week I upped them and am now taking a few different things.. I have thought about acupuncture but haven't gone yet. My FS suggested IVF with ICSI so we just went for it sort of assuming it would guarantee work. We were a bit naive. However I still have my two little frostie embryos from my first cycle left so who knows.

Thank you all so much for the welcomes.

    Hi girls

So I had my 2nd acupuncture today, not entirely sure if it's doing anything just yet. As this MC business still seems to be lingering. Herbs are bearable - but I do seem to be a bit wired since I've been taking them?

Welcome Sharlee32, I am wondering what supplements you are on if you don't mind me asking. Did the FS talk about progesterone once pregnant? Also I have had two lap's for Endo - they are not that bad - but removing it will definitely help with conception. Not sure if you saw my original post I can fall pregnant now just can't stay that way - that's why we're seeing a FS. Hoping all I need is some progesterone pessaries? Maybe wishful thinking?

    Hi Rae,
This is what I am taking I ordered most from the USA as it is cheaper to get it from there.
    For Him.....
Aloe Vera Juice- 20 mls at night
    Zinc 40mgs/day
    >10 Pumpkin Seeds (I just gave DP a tablespoon of Peppita's a day)
Folic Acid 5mg/day (Megafol brand...get it over the counter at pharmacy)
Gogi Berries (I gave DP a tablespoon of those a day too or 20mls of Gogi Berry Juice)
    Selenium 100mcg/day

    For Her........
    Folic Acid 5mgs/day
    Berocca(or equivalent) 1/day
    Fish Oil 1000mgs/day
    Zinc 40mgs/day
    Vit E 500mg (1000iu)/day
    Co-enzyme Q10 150-200mg/day
    Low dose aspirin 100mg/day
    DHEA 25mg 3x daily
Melatonin 5mg/ one capsule at nigh

I used progesterone about 3 days prior to embryo transfer then for two weeks until blood test day. Last cycle FS doubled my progesterone it is meant to make your uterus super sticky like peanut paste and assists the embryo to implant and stay implanted. I know of a few ladies who have had early miscariages and swear it is because they were told to stop using their progesterone or their dose of it was not enough. You know I saw a thread on here somewhere where the ladies were redommending a chemist to get cheap progesterone from. It is very costly. I paid $222 for a box of 15. Here this is the link to the thread...in case you need to buy them thye deliver them across Australia -

Sharlee32 thanks for your reply. I swear that progesterone is my problem. After my first MC I got some topical Progesterone Cream from the USA but it was a very low dose. I do think it helped sustain the 2nd pregnancy longer but not long enough. GP's have no idea about Progesterone levels - my GP outright said she had no idea what number was good or bad. Thanks for the links - I've bookmarked them in case we need to get them.

In terms of supplements I take something similar. I will list them in a couple of days time, bit pressed for time right now.
