    Ive usually shared with owner-friends so we just split all bills.

    Thats probably right. From memory we pay approx. $200 elec/3months, $200 water/3months and in winter last bill we got for gas was just under $300/two months? We dont have A/C but i guess it works out about $50/week for bills. We're two person, two cat, three bed house. Gas bill in summer was $100.

    Eta: try to get ahead...so save more than you need so you have a buffer if anything unexpected comes up.

    Eta2: we're home similar times to you...evenings & weekends.
