    Default Possible ectopic pregnancy

Hi all, I'm hoping this is the right board to post on.
So in Wednesday I ended up spending most of the day in hospital with severe pain in my left side. When they asked if I was pregnant I kinda of scoffed at the idea but when she brought the positive test over my heart leap and sank at the same time. Yes we are happy about the result but from past history know that the pain I'm having is never a good sign. Turns out I also have a uti so fingers crossed that is what is causing most of the pain. The other option is another ectopic pregnancy. I'm due to have more blood test today and was supposed to have another scan but they cancelled it due to "not being worth it as its too early" and they don't want to waste my time. So it's a waiting game of three weeks to find out!!!

So quick background, this is my 11th (!!!!) pregnancy, we have lost 5 early on, one at 18weeks that I went into early labour and had placenta previa, 2 ectopics and they have removed my right tube and ovary. And then an operation o remove a septum in my uterus. We now have a teenager (miracle, never knew anything was wrong) then all that I between and finally were blessed with our now 2 year old.

We had resigned ourselves recently to the fact that we were done, that we just weren't going to fall pregnant again so this came unexpected, but I hate the fact that we just can't be happy about it even for 5 minutes in case it's an ectopic. I hate waiting, I'm not a very patient person and to have o wait that long for this type of news is worse.

I had the same thing when I found out, I had a very bed UTI and kidney infection but also was pregnant. I was completely shocked as I have been trying for a positive since 2009.
I then went thru the scans etc for ectopic and all way clear was just the infection causing the pain.
I am now 17weeks and hope that all is staying put.

Try to relax and get some rest, and I hope that you have a sticky bub in the right spot

I'm glad everything is going good for you so far, it's a scary time for us women and harder when the doctors seem not to care. I have my fingers crossed that the infection is causing all the pain and that everything else is ok. This is my first pregnancy since having our toddler and while he was a miracle in itself being pregnant again is another miracle. When I had my operation 5 years ago they told me I had limited time as I was in the bottom 5% for women my age (back then) in relation to how many eggs I had left. It would be nice that after all the crap the world has thrown at us that we will finally be able to extend our family safely. Will have to wait and see now, I see the doctor on Tuesday to get the results of the blood test back and where To go from there

3 weeks is a long time to wait if they suspect ectopic (you probably already know this). Ask for another dr and make yourself heard.

I had a suspected ectopic pregnancy and had blood tests every couple of days so they check the gch levels.

hope you feel better soon, and get some answers.

I know, 3 weeks seems like an eternity at present. They did a scan on Wednesday but it was too early to see anything which is also still a good sign.
I'm thinking that they will probably monitor me with blood tests for the next couple of weeks, well ill be kinda insisting on it lol, but annoying that they told me in the morning when I got blood taken that the results would be back that afternoon whereas the clinic say they defiantly wouldn't be back and ill have to wait until Tuesday. So back to the waiting game and just try to keep the pain in check and watch out or any bleeding over the weekend.

I didn't think they could wait that long due to it could be life threatening, at the beginning of my pregnancy i was rushed to hospital with possible ectopic and they were checking blood every few hours for gch levels and sent me for 2 scans when they finally found bub in the right place, the pains i was having was due to a cyst on my right ovary and my first scan didn't show bub because i was still very early and too much water in bladder and had slight implantation bleed. They wouldn't let me leave hospital or anything until they were sure it wasn't ectopic due to the danger of it. Fingers crossed you aren't going through another ectopic .

Yep I just have to go back if I have any bleeding or major pain. I had a fair bit of ligament pain with my last pregnancy as I've been preg so many times (this is #11) so I'm expecting a reasonable amount so not sure when to head back to the hospital. So far Panadol is keeping it in check so I can relax a bit. Just couldn't believe when they said 3 weeks...will see what the doc says on Tuesday. I think because I'm soooo early that they just don't want to waste their time for nothing. I'm only due in a couple of days :/ was totally unexpected actually when the nurse came back with a positive test...unexpected but completely welcome if it sticks

So sorry you are going through this.

Concerning pain includes 'shoulder tip pain', if there is a rupture the bleeding causes pain there for some reason. I had it in spades with mine, plus alot of pressure. Tmi but I felt like I really really needed to wee but couldn't... It was intense. I was doubled over and hyperventilating the pain was so bad, and I'm pretty good with pain!

Hth a bit, but mostly I hope for a happy, healthy, sticky miracle bubby for you x
