as per Medicare guidelines, you can have as many scans under 12 weeks as required. if you go to a bulk billing radiology company you will be bulk billed for all of them, if you have to pay you get a rebate each time.

12 weeks and over you get one bulk billed for your nuchal, morph and growth scan. but if you require more they will be billed (even a bulk billing clinic) with no Medicare rebate.

Most people in my DIG have had to pay for their scans. My 20 week scan will cost $300 with about $80 back on medicare. Its the only scan I'm getting.

So just be aware that you may have to pay for them.

Does it depend on which state u live in?? Cause the 20 wk scan is done through your maternity hospital and is bulk billed! I never paid.

depends on where you have your scan done. they can charge you whatever they like really. some are completely bulk billing, some charge fees. most private radiology companies will charge a fee to try and prevent 'ultrasound' shopping happening. if you've already had a scan with that code the company loses out on money as they can't claim anything through Medicare.

I've heard there's been change very recently (this year) that means less places bulk bill. I've heard of some people getting all their care through public and still have to pay for scans.
