Default Hanen Target Word program for speech delay

Took DS to his speech therapy assessment yesterday. He has been put on the waiting list for ST and she referred us to this program that is being run in the area. Starts late August but I would love to hear any experiences and how it helped your child. DS will be 2 in September so I'm hoping he's not too young to benefit.

It's definitely considered 'best practice' as a starting point for language development and your DS is prime age for the program. It has a big focus on teaching parents to follow cues and stimulate language during normal everyday activities so it may feel like the therapist spends more time talking to you than doing actual 'therapy' with your son.
Most clinics run it asa series of group sessions for like 6 weeks or something, then ou might have a break to keep working on stuff at home, then a review and maybe individual therapy later if not making the progress they would like.
(Ps I'm a speechie so I'm talking from a therapist point of view here, not a parent )

    Good luck!

Thanks Jellyfishie, this is definitely set up to teach the parents. It has a pre commencement consultation with DS were they video tape me with him and then do that again once during the program and again at the end the other 5 sessions are for parents only.
