Default 18 month sleep regression ??

It's 10pm and DS is beside himself. This is the 3rd night in a row, he is gong down as usual at 7pm and waking an hour or so later hysterical!! He is not allowing himself to be comforted by us other than sitting on our lap. Tonight I think he has come down with a cold too. Any ideas welcomed...

No suggestions but we are feeling your pain. Our guy is 17 months and goes down fine at 7pm but then the last 3 nights has woken our 2am screaming like he is in pain and takes a lot of effort to get him back to sleep (and we never needed to do more than pop a dummy back in since he was 4 mths old). We have even had to sit with him awake for a while downstairs to calm him down. Last night he just whimpered and grizzled on and off from about 2.30 to 4am - today was so fun, NOT!!

    My thoughts are:
    - teeth
    - too cold (it has been v cold in Sydney the last few nights)
    - getting sick
    - some awful sleep regression / developmental thing that hopefully doesn't last long.

Let me know if you hit the jackpot and figure it out!!

Thanks for your reply. It's bloody awful isn't it! He just vomitted all over himself from crying so much just beside himself!!! But has just gone down now. Fingers crossed for tonight for both of us!!!

How did you end up babyla?

We were only up twice and not as bad as previous nights. Did some reading on the 18 nth sleep regression but it seems to be more about getting them the sleep rather than night waking. I am starting to think my guy is getting sick but still nothing to confirm that.
