Smurfy, hope all is going well hun. Best of luck.

Good to hear from you Squiggs! Sorry your ms is lingering. Hope the end is close and good luck for your scan on Thursday!

Toni- yes I am thinking I will be on BH during the night wakings and feeds too! Makes you feel like you're not alone.

afm- Woke during the night with period type pain. And got it again now. Hoping it'll turn into something but probably too good to be true! Got acupuncture this morning, maybe it'll tip the balance.

Loving the royal baby footage on the news this morning. Thinking of getting a blue polka dot dress a la Kate to leave hospy in as a bit of a joke for our first photos. Might be chilly in a Canberra winter though! lol

    Morning everyone👋

Toni dd was helping a lot but I wanted it done so just did it.

Afm- well today I will be pondering the hard stuff in life. To get a stretch and sweep done or not at 2morrows appt (my due date) ?????
I'm not sure as I don't see the same dr each time just see Randoms (stupid thryoid) and I have seen about 3 that are absolutely hopeless &i have had to ask one of them to measure me, &have seen 2male drs as well didn't feel comfortable with them at all. So I need to really decide if I want it fone and then see who I get for the appt and decide on the spot if I want them to do it. Arrhh oh well off to get kids ready for school will be back later

Hope everyone has a good day 😀.

Smurfy- hope your doing well and soon ur princess will be here

Bond: The not alone feeling in the middle of the night is important. I had a chat with a mum from my DIG this morning on Words with Friends chat just because we were both feeding. Was nice.
Hope the pains and acupuncture means something will be happening soon for you. I feel sorry for Kate with all that media, she just looked like she wanted to take her son home and spend time with him.

Loony: I hope you can make a decision you are happy with. I guess getting the S&S depends on how long past your due date you want to wait for things to go naturally.

Channy: The term stretch and sweep may seem oddly familiar to you, especially if you’re the one who usually cleans the kitchen floor. But other than that it is a procedure unique to pregnancy and labour. A stretch and sweep is one way of initiating labour and is considered a gentler, less invasive induction option. It is generally done when a mother is past her due date or when labour needs to be induced because of (minor) obstetric complications. It is an alternative to other induction techniques such as artificial rupture of the membranes (ARM) and/or a Syntocinon drip.
The midwife or doctor gently inserts two gloved fingers into your vagina and their forefinger through your cervix. They will check if your cervix is what is known as “favourable” e.g. soft, beginning to dilate and effacing/ thinning. A cervix which is high and closed is not ideal for a stretch and sweep. It also increases the likelihood of this being a painful, rather than uncomfortable procedure.
They will then feel for the membranes which are enclosing the baby and resting on your cervix. Stretch refers to the process of stretching the cervix so it opens a little and sweep refers to separating the membranes from where they adhere around the cervix in the lower portion of the uterus.
The cervix needs to be soft and slightly open already so that a finger can be inserted. If the mother’s cervix is not open then another option is for the obstetrician/midwife to gently massage the cervix so that prostaglandins may be released.
The aim with a stretch and sweep is for the obstetrician or midwife is to rotate their finger in a sweeping and circular motion to a full 360 degrees. They need to be careful that they do not break the membranes when they are doing this. Though sometimes this is inevitable, especially if the membranes are bulging and about to rupture spontaneously.

Looney - I hope you get a decent dr and can get the S&S done. I had one done at 39 1/2 weeks with DD and woke up in labour the next morning. Its not the most comfortable thing to get done but in my case it was quite worth it!

Smurfy - thinking of you, hope everything is going well xx

Toni / Bond - yes I remember spending many late nights on bubhub while feeding DD chatting to other Mums. It was my sanity and helped me to feel like I wasnt the only person going through the sleep deprivation!

Arrghhh heartbuuuuuuurn!!! Nothing I had did anything last night, had to sleep slightly propped up and even then it took ages to drift off.. soo tired....

Rainbow: yay for lots of movement. Hope you get to see heaps of photos of your little man next Friday.

Michelle: congrats on 20w. River's thrush is slowly clearing thanks for asking.

Raunchy dreams during pregnancy must be normal I had them too. I DTD first time since the birth which was a little uncomfortable but good.
