I've got a friend who stayed with me long term board free, who is finally in a position where she can pay me back the money she promised I would always get. It's only gonna be about $2.5k I think (technically she owes me more like 6 lol.... But we won't go there!!!)
But that will be a nice little bit to chop off the top of the debt.
We are officially $10k down from where we started, so I'm so super proud of our efforts. Need to keep pushing harder though, if we want to finish in time!!!!!

Ugh why are finances always such an issue. Sometimes I really hate money and the issues it brings
Anyway we should count ourselves lucky we live in Australia with so much more than others. Good job on the debt payoff mrst you should be really proud!!

It's hard isn't it hope :-( I'm married to my husband of 6 months, who I've been allowed to call mine for over 6 years, and yet his mother still treats us like children and lectures us and tells us ton"slow down" and "we are making a big mistake". I don't even know what mistake she thinks we are making, because we haven't even told her we are tying for children. Parents are difficult creatures!!

I guess parents will always worry about something. It sucks that you're getting grief from your mum Hope. Try not to let it bother you because only you and your DH know how you feel and what you've got. As long as you both feel comfortable and like that time is right, that is the only thing that matters.

I get that money is needed to buy the baby the things he/she will need along the way it does not mean that you need to be rolling in it. There is always a way to make it work and you work with the budget you have. Besides people always live to their means - so with that said even the rich would need to make changes or sacrifices to afford children There is always a way!

Sorry to the essay it's early and I'm not very articulate at this time of day haha

Two girls, one dream and baby you are it!

Lol rain I think u were very articulate :-)
It's so true that people live to their means. I took a different job which meant a $20k pay cut pretty much. It was a hard decision to make but I still maintain it was the right choice.
I thought it was going to be really difficult financially, yet here we are paying $10k off our debt in under a few months. You can achieve anything if its important enough to you.

Thanks so much for the support girls. I am a sensitive soul so it helps me see the whole picture, rainbow you are so right. It is up to dh and I and I just need to trust that that's ok. Its just offensive because you want your fam to back the decisions you make. I said to mum, well there are ppl who have five kids and don't have much money and they get by, she said yes but life is simpler. I get it, she wants me to have the best and give my kids that, but I wish she realized that just because she thinks a certain way, doesn't necessarily mean its the right way or everyone has to agree to it and do what she says! I think that is a key fault in parent child relationships..similar to what your mil says mrst. And you feel like a two yr old, so not cool.
Also rain when you said the rich cut down too when a bub comes, that's right you always live to your means. Just because you're well off doesn't mean you're child is going to have things better. What is materialism going to give them in the long term. And half the time ppl achieve wealth because they work ridiculously hard and as a result can't be home as much with their kids. Its the value you put on money and as I said before, my fam is a tad into it

On a lighter note, very well done mrst!!! 10k is awesome. Imagine how much you'll save when you're utd, maybe even more

Hopefully we can continue saving in this trend, it's not easy as we have no self control lol.... I've been talking DH with about backpacking through Europe before settling down. Maybe 3-4wks worth. Still discussing the possibility, but I think it's the most cost effective way for me to get my travel bug under control before we are house ridden for approx 10 years (I'm not much a fan of taking young children on holidays, but that's another discussion haha)
Timing wise, it would probably we JUST before we start TTC, or even we could start our first cycle while away (dames having to pack one extra item - condoms hahaha).
Still not sure f it's the right thing to do tho....

I have the same thing going on. Caravanning around France. I don't think its the right time for us tho. I'd rather TTC in March because if we travelled it'd be Sept so too long to wait for me

Could be a good decision mrst especially if you've got the bug!! Dh and I have Bali in Jan so that should kerb things for a bit and we have traveled a bit between us, so I hope we can hold out for a few yrs for Europe

DH has been to NZ 3 times, and Delhi (both for work). We have been to Bali n New Zealand together. Thailand for our honeymoon. So sure better than some, but never truly gone very far... All above could really be considered Australia still HAHA.
Really want a big one, and could be fun to make a "thing" out beginning TTC. Some go to a fancy hotel, we go to Europe hahha.....
Suppose just need to do up a budget, and see if we can justify it... Either way we will do SOMEthing. Maybe just a week in Ireland or something like that :-)
