Ooo I love that nursery Coco! Good find...MrsT, that'd look really lovely.

What a hard decision to make moving over East. DH's whole fam is over there...we really wish they would visit us more (his brothers and wives). They have only visited us once in 7 years and that was our wedding. His parents come more often though. Apparently today my SIL told me they are planning a trip next Sept but I am DEFINITELY not holding my breath because I can't tell you how many times they have said that and it never happens. It really breaks my heart because everytime they say it, I don't think they realise it gets our hopes up and then it's a complete let down We have visited them every year...so feel it's very one sided. Sorry just had to vent my frustrations!

I think there are non toxic paints but am not sure how much dearer they would be, paint is expensive as it is. When we move into the new house I will be able to figure our the colour scheme for the nursery, however not finding out the sex will make decorating a little more neutral I guess. I can always add the wall decals after bub is born anyway.

You're right about spreading the spending out Mrs T. That does make it seem less expensive. I guess it's like shopping for Xmas presents. If you start early, it doesn't seem so much...I never gave much thought to clothes, but that is really logical. You could end up with a big bubba and how do you know when you are going to conceive too vs the season bub will be born.

OMG today there was the cutest baby girl and she had little pink shoes on and I was oooing and aahhhing and saying to her mum that girls clothes are so cute and she was like, 'yes you can go crazy buying them all'...DH was looking at me like don't get carried away now

We painted dd's room when I was about 28wks (i was even the one up ob the ladder cutting in along the top edge as I didn't trust dh to do it neatly!) Just make sure the room is well ventilated and you take a break regularly

Here are some pics of dd's nursery - Mrst, there was no way I was having white but I will warn that the darker wood does show up all the scratches...

Michelle I'm glad I'm not the only one. Every other hubber has always tabbooed dark wood.

Omg I looove that website example ill have to bookmark them :-)

We would be moving most likely in march, and we will start TTC in about June-July so it's probably the best time really, if we do. Better than waiting and having a small child. We have moved around a bit already as DH is in the navy. He is currently doing a course which goes til march hence the time line. I am working full time now, but moving wont be too difficult as there's plenty of opportunities up there. It wouldn't have to be anything too spesh as I would've been quitting in about 6months anyway for mat leave.
Both our families, and 20years worth of friends are all in qld. We were in vic for 12montgs and here for 2yrs so far. Love it so much here but Bris will always be home. It's where I'm adamant my children will grow up. It's just hard with there being no Brisbane base :-/ cairns is about as close as u can get....

We have had dark wood in every other room in the house but slowly getting rid of it all. It shows every little mark I also think it makes the house look darker - we don't get enough sun in the rooms to have such dark furniture in this house.

I do think its looks very classic though and don't think that you should go against it if that's what you like!!

We were thinking of painting bubs room before we know the gender. We were thinking either aqua or green and mixing in pink if its a girl - I think the colours go nicely...

We thought we would keep do it green and have perhaps a jungle theme if its a boy and if its a girl we can trim with pink and have something still nature related but more girly. So maybe green wall with a tree decal and pink butterflies coming out of the tree.. And of course some pink finishes here and there.

I don't think I would want to pain the whole room pink it was a girl so I like the idea of using green or aqua and then just changing it to suit the gender a little more.

I also like the owls and they are very popular but someone once told me if an owl watches over you they have come to warn you of a death. It sounds so stupid and I know it's rubbish but that's all I think of when I see owls now. They are tainted for me

I'm loving that green theme. I'm super against pink/blue walls, don't get me wrong I love what some people have done I just wouldn't ever do it myself.
Green is a perfect neutral that isn't used often enough in my opinion; people lump is as a "boy" colour far too readily!!

We haven't even started looking a cots/prams etc yet, I'm trying to delay it as long as possible. The sooner we start the longer the wait will feel if that makes sense lol

And Rain I totally get what u mean bout the owls. If u have that sort of connotation attached to anything, just don't use it. It's not worth it. Even if u think u can "learn to love it", don't. There's pleeeeenty other cute themes out there.
Personally if steer clear of owls atm just because of the huge overuse of them. They're great, I just want something a little more unique I spose :-)

I'm so glad that people like the green!!! I think it's gorgeous and peaceful and like you said MrsT, it's not really used enough.

I also think the owl thing has become super popular which is okay but we definitely won't be using them mainly because of my association but also because we would like to have something a little bit different as well.

Mrs T I also get what you mean by looking at those things now it makes it feel longer.. It can definitely do that! For us it makes it all feel a bit more real at the moment. I just had to pay $400 for blood tests that the fertility specialist asked for... We have spent a lot already and looking at baby stuff and being on here reminds us that we are actually planning on having a baby and that we aren't just throwing hundreds of dollars at a specialist for nothing lol - sometimes it feels that way though!
