I'm not sure if you have one near you, but baby bunting will price match any Australian store or online retailer (has to be au)

I saved over $200 when I bought my pram by getting them to price match

LMC - I don't have one near where I live.... BUT... There is one near where I work! I will definitely check it out I'm doing some online browsing again - typical!

Hope - how are you feeling today? You mentioned that your DH was a little upset with the baby talk yesterday. Hope that hasn't discouraged your from being privately excited lol (on here).

How is everyone else's hubbys and partners? How are they when you show your super clucky side?

DF teases me with a big grin on his face.. I was playing with my 10month old nephew yesterday and he was cracking up laughing. Ray walks in and goes "ooo you're getting clucky aren't you?" He's so good with kids, I know he's excited =)

The endless baby talk is quite welcome here, every time I talk about babies she has a big smile, poor girl thought I wasn't that excited about it . Im just trying to keep it to a minimum so it doesn't drive her crazy before 2014 comes around.

We just sorted out health insurance, I wasn't really sure if it will be worth it but DP is one of those overly cautious type and all for saving a bug.

Hopefully we will be doing pre-conception checks and get a referral for fertility clinic.

That's so good!!!! It's awesome that he is happy to show his excitement!

AFM - I am kind of excited.. DF mentioned how the time has almost come to quit smoking today. I was asking her if she was proud that I haven't had a smoke in 6 days and she said she is very proud and that it won't be long before she is a non smoker with me. I like that she brought it up on her own (about her smoking) and that she seemed happy about quitting. Lets see if it lasts!!! I have noticed she has cut down quite a bit this week too Wooo!

    Hello everyone

Thank you Kimnus for starting this thread - it's so nice to see so many people on the waiting to TTC journey.

DH (28) & I (27) are planning on TTC early next year for our first baby. I can't wait!

We will be married for 2 years in August and we have built our home but still have a bit to do with our garden and furnishing all our rooms. We have two kittens but are very excited for a little human baby to join our family

A big reason for the wait was being settled in our careers. I'm a lawyer and I'm conscious of climbing the corporate ladder before starting a family. I'm not sure yet if I will return to work full time or part time after having a baby - has anyone else given this any thought?

I had a blood test recently which showed no immunity to Rubella. Apparently, it's common for immunity to disappear after a while. So I recently had the vaccine. I also increased my health insurance to cover pregnancy. I've researched on pregnancy vitamins but won't start taking them until about October/November this year. What else are people doing to prepare?

I've been reading everyone's posts and I'm sorry to hear so many have suffered loss It's good to have forums like these to share in both the sorrows and the joys.

As to keeping the news secret or not, I'm not sure if I can - I have a big mouth. If we are blessed with conceiving, I would like to share it with our family. I've even been googling great ways to share the news, one of my favourites was having a family photo taken and instead of saying 'cheese' shout out 'We're pregnant' so that everyone's reaction is captured on camera.

Sorry for the long post! I promise to keep the next ones shorter

Haha I tried to do the same thing and kept myself from getting too excited but then I was told it was like I didn't rally want kids yet! Hahaha so now I don't hold baby on all the baby stuff so that there are no misunderstandings. You mentioned you would be doing IVF with your DPs eggs this time is that right? Did you carry the first as well? I am always fascinated as to how others in the same boat have organised it all. DF and I will both carry but she's going first as she is a couple of years older.

    Hi Coco,

Just thought I would reply while I'm on a roll. Hopefully once I am able to talk again I will start to post like a normal person and not every 30 seconds haha.

I feel sorry for everyone else because I am writing so much on here.. Sorry guys

Completely understand the waiting due to career part. That was a concern for me if I was to carry first but now that I have extra time it's not so much of a worry. I was recently promoted into a role that requires more time and dedication and I wanted to make sure I could do well in it. Both DF and I plan to return back to work but DF may go to part time depending on we are doing financially. We make decent money but tend to live the lifestyle of the rich and the famous - that needs to stop!! We are definitely not rich or famous lol.

The way you suggested to announce the pregnancy is absolutely brilliant!!! I LOVE it!!!

We plan on DF being pregnant at the start of next year and want to have a commitment ceremony around March - we wanted to announce it at the reception. We just need to wait and see if it happens that way. There's no guarantee that DF will be pregnant at that stage but fingers crossed. I think it would be so special to announce it to everyone there.

The idea we have at the moment is to have a special photo taken when we have our other pics taken. We want a pic of the two of us in our "wedding" dresses (just from knees down) showing our shoes and then have a pair of white baby shoes in between our feet. We then wanted to have a copy placed at each persons place on the table in an envelope so that it could be opened when the cake is cut.

It needs some more tweaking and we may change the concept but that's it at the moment. We could then post the same picture on fb etc.

I'll see if I can find a similar example

What a brilliant idea! I think your guests would love that.

I also know what you mean about living like the rich & famous but not actually being rich & famous! We've cut down our spending a fair bit but that's because we're going to Europe this year. The plan is to keep saving this way even after Europe.

Have any of you guys started reading pregnancy books? I'm contemplating buying a few but I'm not sure I'll retain all the information for when I actually need it.
