Default Would you dob in a family member? - centrelink

I will try to keep this brief and I hope I posted in the right section.

I know someone (family member) who has been claiming single parenting payment for years even though she lives with her husband and he has full time well payed employment.

From what I can see they don't struggle. They have been on holidays. Bought new cars, purchased there own home years ago and well they never go without.

It makes me a bit angry. My husband and I do the right thing and we are far from being able to buy our own home, if we cheated like this then yea we would have a deposit in no time, it just doesn't seem fair.

If I knew someone who rorted the system for a short time because they were genuinely doing it tough then I would happily look the other way. But knowing these people have been doing this for years and look like never stopping I start to get angry, I feel like they are cheating and they don't deserve the new car or the new house but if I reported them for fraud I worry it would effect the children the most because they would take there anger out on them and also the penalty I imagine would be huge.

    What would you do?

I wouldn't, even though they're doing the wrong thing I would feel guilty, especially if they're close family.
They WILL get found out eventually.

I would be warning the family member that she should stop defrauding Centrelink immediately. If she has been doing this for years Centrelink will prosecute and there is a real chance that she will go to prison.

Although by warning them you are not happy you can't don them in down the track if they don't stop.

I'm with the majority in would dob them in - no matter him much I love them.

I also wouldn't if it was for short term and they genuinely needed a leg up (I don't agree with it but wouldn't dob them in) but to use it for holidays and cars when others are doing it so much tougher is wrong and must be stopped.

Yes agree with this, maybe send an anonymous letter, what they are doing is completely hideous but I would worry about the kids too much, so I would give them the opportunity to do the righty.
