some of the reasons that a person may have money, such as working closely with the governement or military in their home country may be the very reason that a person has a target on their back and on the backs of their families. A wealthy person can be in as much, or even more need of asylum than someone else.

Lets not also delude ourselves that there are no people in these camps who are well resourced. The thing is it doesn't mean anything if you can't get your hands on it from inside a camp.

    Since you asked nicely:

    1. I like to learn
I have a distrust of information (stats, arguments, 'facts') coming from many sources. I think information is often cherry picked and can be massaged to tell a story the author wants to tell. I think it's because of this that personal stories (1st/2nd hand, not 3rd hand onwards) sink in easier/better with me.

    2. I am also curious to see who's just blowing hot air out their butt with no intention of doing anything in the real world.

I'm still unclear as to whether I am in the category of arm chair warrior.

    It depends.
    - do you have personal experience in dealing with asylum seekers (not talking a one off here)?
    - if not, you you truthfully intend to become directly involved in asylum seeker support in the near future?

A no to both means you are an arm chair warrior.

And define Arm Chair warrior? Is that a bad thing? Could I not just be a compassionate person who can empathise with others? Why do you always want to label everyone all the time?

Can someone join my new club, it is the arm chair warrior club. It is really cool, we sit around and paint our toenails and talk about refugees.
