I haven't asked you to watch it, was just stating (in general) that it can be watched from other outlets other than online.

I'm not having a problem with the debate, or discussing it with father, as I'm sure he doesn't either. Hence why we both keep engaging in it and with others.

And adding a smiley face after 'get stuffed' doesn't make it any less offensive.

So if you were in their position (I know empathy doesn't come easy, but bear with me) you wouldn't use your resources to give your family the best chance possible of survival? You'd throw your money away and wait in a camp? Or has it perhaps never occurred to you that someone in say, a govt position, who then falls out of favour or power, may have some idea of what's coming and grabs their family and available cash and runs? Is the threat to someone with money any less real? It doesn't matter how much money you have, or don't have, we all die exactly the same.

Have you watched the Great Global Warming Swindle?
Couldn't agree with you more! A broad set of resources, opinions and resources are imperative.

Haven't watched it, pretty sure that's one my Dad wants me to watch, you're so alike it's bizarre, not a criticism either just you share almost the exact same views.

What a shame it once again degenerates into this.

An interesting note, that study I mentioned before? They found that the higher a person's self esteem and if they believe at least three false beliefs about refugees, they will never be convinced no matter how much information you give them.

That's fair enough, not taken it personally. But I feel like you're getting your back up over a confusion that you feel like everyone's trying to change your mind and educate when maybe it could be that some people are just sharing resources which have shaped or had an impact on their view of the issue. Even if I think I might disagree with a resource completely it's sometimes worth investigating to deepen your own views or understand where someone else is coming from. I still think it was important for me to each bill shorten on q and a the other night, even though I was pretty sure I would think he was talking out his a$$. Which I did but I wanted to hear it.

    In your opinion.
And Australia is providing 'safe passage and a place to live'. PNG might not be their first choice, but it would be safer than where they have come. It is a matter of need, not want. They might want Australia as a destination, but for them to be free of the persecution they were fleeing, PNG would meet that need.

I find it hilarious that both VP and Father have chosen not to watch the SBS doco. Sounds like you don't want your views to be changed to be honest. Because I bet they would be after watching it. And it's not a cherry picked video. It's a quality documentary from SBS. Hardly in the same category as some lefty clip from YouTube.

It's based on fact, not perception. And especially in the first season the people on it mainly have views like yours. Which then change. How can you not be curious?

Oh I forgot you have no time. Better spent on here writing 87 posts saying the same thing over and over.

What about our needs? To meet our legal obligations as per the Regugee Convention, it doesn't meet that.

I understand that people will try to do the best for their family, and I would do the same for my family. But that does not change or invalidate my preference to help those that don't have the money that can buy a couple of options.
If I were fleeing persecution, I would be grateful that any country would take me. It might not be my first choice, but as long as I am away from those that are hunting me, then I would be happy.

Really? Even if the rest of your family had already been placed somewhere else?
