Hi Booboo78...all is going very slowly this time, so not much to tell yet...but thanks for thinking of me! I'm still on the pill...which seems so weird when the whole point is to try and conceive! Apparently this can help 'even things out' before starting the cycle. I start the nasal spray on Wednesday...so a little nervous about this, given what the side effects can be. I have my fingers crossed that I tolerate it as well as I tolerated the orgalutran. I finish taking the pill on Sunday, then have a blood test Friday next week to ensure everything has worked properly. Fingers crossed it does, then I will start my puregon Saturday next week! How are you going? Is the Dhea going ok?

Sounds like things are shaping up, skippy1. Thought I might quickly share I had similar issues poor fertilisation with my first cycle. At 150 gonal, my 1st FS got 11 eggs from me, but only 1 fertilised via ICSI and it was a very poor embryo. I changed FS, who diagnosed me with PCOS and put me onto a different cocktail of drugs & supplements, including metformin and at 125 puregon, I had 13 eggs from that cycle. 5 fertilised, with 3 of them making it to Day 5 blastocysts. Something in the current regime is working to improve my fertilisation rate.

Thanks for sharing nightchild80. Just wondering though if you know what the issue with fertilisation was? Was there any isssue with the eggs? I think this is what I'm finding so hard that apparently it wasn't the fertilisation that was the issue, it was that the eggs were 'highly abnormal', so worried that perhaps all of my eggs are abnormal. My FS specialist seems to think we won't really know until we get better control, ie; if i get less eggs and lower hormone levels and still get abnormal eggs, then it probably is that all of my eggs are abnormal and not the effects of the treatment causing them to be abnormal...

skippy1: Our first FS didn't mention if there was anything wrong with my eggs. Obviously there were eggs, which were not ideal (too old, not ready, etc), but abnormalities - nup. He said he suspected DH had a sperm issue and recommended we do an IUI at the next cycle - a recommendation I wasn't 100% convinced was the right option for us. Thus we went to see a 2nd FS for a 2nd opinion and went with him instead. Did your FS mention what sort of abnormality your eggs had and what your options might be to improve them?

Ok cool, thanks nightchild80. Yes he explained the abnormality, but to be honest it was a bit complex to take in. He is hopeful that the abnormality was caused by overstimulation & poor control. I don't think we will really know until I have a cycle with better control & less eggs...fingers crossed he is right!
