A second opinion never hurts. Just get a copy of your file and make an appointment and ask her if there's anything she would do differently.

I do agree with previous posters about egg quality not being linked to numbers. I had 21 eggs collected last cycle and 7 made it to blastie, which was the best result I've had yet. I'm now 20 weeks with 1 of those blasties.

Hope your FS has some new ideas. If he doesn't have any new ideas I would definitely try a new cycle somewhere else and save your money.

Hi booboo78.... Just wondering how you went? Did you manage to get some answers from your dr?

i saw my specialist this week & had a good chance to ask lots of questions! He is still hoping that it is because I was overstimulated. Plan to try a few different things this time... Going on the pill to start & using nasal spray instead & also using lower dose of puregon. I guess only time will tell if it helps! I hope you are going well

Hi, went ok although I did feel she was rushing to get us out geez u pay $190!! She suggested with our next cycle that they will up my med dose of Puregon from 200 to 250, she will also change 1 of the meds from Orgalutran to Synarel (nasal spray) - noticed u will be using that too, Im using this instead of the Orgalutron, hopefully this will help make more follies (eggs). They also said about adding the calcium to the egg after retrieval, Im hoping this will help with our fertilisation issues we had last time, you just never know!!. I asked about whether I should be on anything to help egg quality and she mentioned either dhea can be taken for 3 mths prior to a cycle or using testosterone gel 1 mth prior to a cycle can help. Not def on when we will begin but the latest i guess will be 3 mths, nervous, anxious, worried, pray it goes better next time!! How r you holding up, wouldn't wish this on anyone, have some good days but I must admit the last few months more down days then good . Im glad you had chance to ask lots of questions, hope the next round u get much better results. I know a lady on IVF forum facebook who had about 27 eggs, I think 15 fertilised then only one made it to day 5 she has PCOS I know they r lowering her dose next round, she has to do PGD as she knows her egg quality isn't so good. She has had 5 miscarriages

Skippy sorry to hear about your experiences and failed cycles - sucks doesn't it? My 1st cycle was cancelled and my 2nd cycle we got 19 eggs, 14 mature, 7 fertilised, 4 made it to blast, 1 transferred, none frozen and the cycle ended in a chemical pregnancy.

After my cancelled cycle I made an appointment with Lynn burmeister, which was 2.5 months later... in the meantime I had my 2nd cycle which was a fail so now I am seeing Lynn and SO glad I made the move. She looked at everything with fresh eyes, told me things I had no idea about and made lots of changes to the next cycle I will do including giving the eggs calcium to help increase fertilisation rates. She also prescribes melatonin to help with egg quality and therefore help fertilisation. Although she didn't for me as eggs looked ok as we had 14 but it was the fert we need help with.

I would highly recommend her and worth while booking in even if you have a long wait just in case this cycle doesn't work for you (which I HOPE it does) but in case it doesn't it's nice to have a back up plan. Which IVF clinic are you with? Do you mind me asking who your current FS is?

    Good luck with everything!

    Hi Skippy,

Go straight to Lynn Burmeister. There's a thread

    http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/f...-please/page53

where you can get heaps of information. She has a long wait, but you can ask to be put on a waiting list and get in generally within a few weeks. I wasted 6 stim cycles with MIVF with two different specialists....

You probably have polycistic ovaries. Mine were diagnosed late last year via an ultrasound, I had no other symptoms. I always got about 20 eggs, but not good fertilisation or embryos. We were finally successful with Lynn (first go) with the 7th stim cycle, yes 7th! I saw a Chinese doctor for 4 months prior to treatment (pm if you want more info) to manage polycistic ovaries, improve egg quality and get my reproductive system in best possible shape. Lynn put me on melatonin, vitamin e, we did ha-icsi and calcium activation of oocyte. She changed the brand of all the drugs I needed. I still got 22 eggs at the end, which worried me at the time.4 fertilised, we got 3 blastst, put 2 back in and I'm pregnant with twins.

    Good luck!

Hi ladies, thanks so much for sharing, I really appreciate it! It's nice to know that I'm not alone in this process. Booboo78, it's great they are trying some new things with you too! It sounds like we will be on a similar protocol, as yes, I'll be doing the nasal spray too. I know it's hard, but try and hang in there...hopefully it will be worth it in the end! I start my cycle again today...apparently this one takes a few weeks longer as starting on the pill.

Jb2011, I have definately considered seeing Lyn, but my specialist is already at monash IVF and I know he has been consulting with one of the professors there. Having said that, when i saw him last week, I asked him if he could also consult with Lyn, as my sister used her and I wanted him to discuss this with her to see if there was anything similar between my sister and I. He is happy to do this, which made me happy. We'll see I guess! I feel really glad that he is prepared to consult with others to try and get some answers.

Lena78...congratulations!! that's very exciting! I too have been seeing a chinese dr for about 18months and was also on melatonin last cycyle, with ha-icsi. However, we didn't do calcium so maybe i should ask about this? Having said that, with my eggs looking 'abnormal' not sure it would have helped!

Thanks again ladies, take care of yourselves.

skippy the great thing about switching to Lynn was that my old FS was Monash too and i didn't have to do a thing! They had my entire file there and she could look at everything that had happened and all out blood, sperm test etc etc. Our old FS is none the wiser that we have swapped and doesn't need to be unless we tell him. Swapping FS's within Monash is VERY easy!

Jb2011 interesting to hear about the HA-ICSI, first I have heard about that, hopefully my clinic has that option, ill have to ask. So sorry to hear of your chemical pregnancy , I know how it feels to lose one, along time ago, I lost a little boy at 16 weeks. Congrats lena78, that must have been tough going through 7 cycles but so so worth it, how exciting twins you were saying u had poor nos fertilised to start with, what were your nos 1st time compared to your last? Picked up my DHEA today, have to take it 3 times daily. Lets hope I don't get any nasty side affects. One lady I know gets extra hairy, I so dont need that lol. They say it can help with egg nos and quality. Gl ladies x
