    Hi Jessica,

i have had two rounds of IUDI, unfortunately both failed. My partner and I are now moving to IVF, and hope to start next cycle in mid September.

I wasn't brave enough to go to IVF straight away. To be honest I thought I had a good chance at iui as I have no known fertility issues. It seemed as close to 'natural' conception which was another reason for doing it.

Since then I've read more on successful live birth rates of ivf compared to iui. Also friends of mine who did iui delivered their baby 13 weeks early, which was a complication I hadn't considered.

We're using the donor service through the agency, so at $950 per ampule, the costs start to add up which is something to consider as well.

If I could chose to start again knowing what I do now, I may have chosen to go ivf straight away. But it's a completely personal choice only you and your partner can make.

The iui process is minimally invasive, the only discomfort I had was at ovulation time. The pain was quite intense with three follicles growing. But as soon as I ovulated the pain disappeared. The iui procedure itself I found was painless. The HSG scan on the other hand was very unpleasant.

If you have specific questions, please feel free to ask. I'm happy to answer anything I can.

    good luck on your journey

Hi Jessica, i'm a single parent who chose IUI for my second child. I have ovulation issues so needed help with getting it happening regularly. I had 3 rounds with fertility specialist and then went and found a known donor and did insemination at home. I was successful 2nd month of trying I found my donor through FSDW website. If you have any question please feel free to message me if you have any questions.

    Hi Jessicalennon92,
have you started your IUI treatment yet?
I am 24 and my husband was born without testicles so he cannot produce any sperm. We are a few weeks away from starting our first IUI with donor sperm and I'm very nervous.

I have no known issues so I am just keeping my fingers crossed that the first time works for us.

I'd love to hear how you are getting along with your treatment and if you have started how did it go and what was the process like?
