Default APD Diagnosis in my 7 yr old girl..... feeling bewildered/overwhelmed... need help.

My 7 yr old D has been "behind" in everything since birth. Slow to walk/talk etc.

Until this year we have just taken it as "being her".

But this year things really started to change. Pretty much everyone around her is struggling to help her.

A few months ago I took her to see a specialist who referred....then another specialist... .another referral.... another specialist... and so on.

Each one adding another piece to a very large puzzle. Then last Friday our final specialist - speech pathologist and child psychologist - diagnosed Auditory Processing Disorder.

WOW - After reading so much online..... I now UNDERSTAND why she acts the way she does... but am lost on the best ways to help her.

Please is there anyone here who can share some tips? ideas? resources? websites? ANYTHING will help.

Hi and welcome to the hub I have no experience with the condition your daughter has, but hopefully someone else will come along soon with some info or experience.

Also there are different sections to post questions in, if you find a section that kind of covers this specific topic, you may get more people who see it, and will answer.

    All the best

Here is a search of bubhub for APD (I wanted to know what it was!) it might help you to find who has experience of it, and see what has been said before...

Here is a thread which may be helpful: http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/f...ory+processing

You may also like to post a new thread in that section and hopefully meet other parents experiencing the same thing.
