Default food cravings and baby's gender?

Im intruiged by the types of food i prefered for my 2 pregnancies. Im more intruiged by the myths associated with the food your craving and the sex of your baby! Is it true????
We didnt find out the gender of our baby both times.
I didnt suffer any morning sickness at all for either pregnancy and both pregnancies were complication free.

First pregnancy i had an actual appetite to eat breakfast when i usually dont eat breakfast. Very early on, like 6 weeks into it. I favoured weet bix with a mountain of sugar. i could have eaten if for every meal and sometimes i did.
i ate normal, no real cravings excpet frozen coke. Went off all other sweet drinks and soft drink. By the end of that pregnancy, i was wanting a snack of some toast with lots of butter just before i went to bed everynight.
I didnt gain much weight, started at 50kgs ended at 60kgs.
I thought we were having a boy.
I had a GIRL for my first pregnancy. She was 7lb.

For my second pregnancy, i had the weet bix thing happen again around the 6-8 week mark.
I also ate really bad foods. Like hash browns in white bread with lashing of butter - EVERYDAY. I put that down to being underweight pre-preg and my body doing its thing to gain some much needed Fat Stores for the baby!
I absolutely craved BEER. So i got onto the non alcoholic stuff. Was completely off all soft drink and sweet drinks, again.
I dont remember eating anything relatively healthy for my 2nd pregnancy. I was very naughty.
Was having toast with butter morning and night.
I thought we were haivng a boy only because i was eating so much crap.
I was 43kgs pre preg, ended at 62kgs.
I had a BOY second pregnancy and he was 8lb 11oz.

So do you think there is any truth in that myth about food craving during pregnancy... "boy = wanting salty fatty starchy foods. Girl = wanting sweet, dairy, fruit. ??
Mine was kinda a mix of both but second deffinately went more towards the boy foods.

I don't know but it will be interesting to see...

With dd I craved cooked green apples and custard. I think I had it every night!
I also had an intolerance to full fat cheese. it would give me diarrhea. So was eating 99% fat free cheese slices instead.

This time I have craved salty foods. Saladas with lot of Vegemite and butter with a thick slice of cheese on the side. Yum! That latest until 15 weeks when I developed a skin reaction and narrowed it down to the cheese. So no more cheese for me, which is killing me! Still loving the salty foods though especially dumplings, spring rolls with lots of soy sauce and bread with butter and Vegemite.

With dd, I didn't have extreme cravings put preferred salty, carb loaded foods like hot chips, pasta, pluto pups.

This time I'm learning what cravings are Most tend to be sweet like lollies, chocolate and 2L of orange juice a day ... don't know what I'm having yet.

I craved savoury stuff like curries and Asian and chips last time with my boy. I have had a crazy sweet craving this time, which considering I'd been sugar-free for a year is a bit sad. I find out on thurs what I am having so I will come back and update!

I was mad for ice cream!!! We went on a holiday when I was 11 weeks and found this cute little ice cream shop which I dragged DH to at least twice a day...! I was sure that I'd have a girl because I'd heard the old wives tale where sweet = girl and savoury = boy, but nope I had a wonderful DS!
